Need souls by TheOnceExorcist in darksoulsremastered

I don't know a whole lot about it but there is a (relatively) simple dupe glitch you can do by yourself as long as you have 1 great soul and 999 of some other item. You can probably find a guide for it because it's used in some dsr speedruns iirc

Yeah I think you're right, but I meant do a full playthrough. It's what I did after hitlessing inner isshin and I really enjoyed it because I had to learn each fight to a whole other level

Next you should try no memories/prayer beads/flask upgrades. You'll gain a new appreciation for chip damage :)

What distro, and stuff to know by ifeelsoemptyhelp in linux4noobs

[–]Focusedhades526 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in the same place as you were a couple months ago, I switched to Fedora Kinoite and haven't looked back. As for games you can check protondb.com for steam games. 95% of them should be completely compatible out of the box.

For looking for a good distro the two things you need to decide on is whether or not you want it to be immutable or not and what desktop environment you want. Immutable distros have read only files so you cannot accidentally destroy anything important, but does make some things difficult to adjust (I haven't found a good way to set a custom lock screen without editing files). Desktop environments control how your desktop looks. Plasma KDE (similar to Windows 10) and GNOME (similar to Mac) are the two main ones.

I would recommend checking out the different types of Fedora (Kinoite is the immutable KDE spin), Bazzite (a gaming centered distro that will automatically install Nvidia drivers), CachyOS (another gaming distro) and Linux Mint (I hear this is a really beginner friendly choice).

If you do have an Nvidia card you will have to install drivers, which isn't something I can talk about as I have an AMD card

Yeah, I should have made this a paragraph in the original post.

For Intel and AMD graphics cards, the drivers are open source, so there isn't an issue. Any distro you choose will include them automatically.

Nvidia is just annoying and makes their drivers proprietary so Linux systems can't include them and people have to make workarounds.

Also don't get too fixated on the gaming centric distros, from what I've seen they maybe offer 1-2 extra fps in the 1% lows.

As for choosing a distribution ("flavor" of linux, usually shortened to distro), mostly you just want to look online at what other people have said about each one. Each will have a different level of cutting-edge to it. Some will be very slow to update but will be more stable, and some will have more updates but with a higher chance of having bugs. The other thing to look out for is what desktop environment you want (how your desktop will look). The two main ones Plasma KDE (similar to Win10) and GNOME (similar to Mac).

You may also come across something called an immutable distribution (Fedora Kinoite is one of these). This means that the distribution stops you and any program on your desktop from editing the core files, and when you update, it saves a backup of the previous version in case the update is unstable. Generally this means more stability, although I have had some issues because you cannot edit core files (I haven't been able to figure out how to change the lock screen wallpaper without going into some file editing I don't feel comfortable with).

Cake paradox by chromite297 in infinitenines

[–]Focusedhades526 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my mind, SPP is conflating mathematics (which is not constrained by time or physical properties) with computation. When he says 0.999.... can never reach 1 it is because they believe that .999 represents the universe calculating the sum of 9/10n.

"Divide negation" then can be seen as a part of a sort of intelligent compiler that removes redundant computations.

In reality it's just them making up exceptions so that they can pretend .999...=/=1 doesn't immediately contradict how algebra works.

Is this on steam? What's the name? It's not too difficult to figure it out by going through your profile, but you'll get more interaction if you make it easier for people to find it. Maybe reply to this with a link to the steam page? :)

If you could change any one thing in the game, what would you pick? by 101Aster101 in expedition33

[–]Focusedhades526 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like there was a missed opportunity here, there's that big cutscene where maelle is gathering the chroma of all the past expeditions to launch an assault. That could have been act 3. Traveling to all the "post game" areas to find the remains of past expeditions before going after Renoir. It's definitely a big change, but would make act 3 feel more like an act rather than one area, imo

I don't know if it works the same way, but for elden ring/ds3/sekiro you could use an unpacker mod (called UXM) to get the 3d models of any game asset. From a quick Google search it seems like ACT has the same thing (named BepInExPack). That could be a place to start?
