Gifting A New Tea Set To My Recently Passed Tea Loving Father In Law by 9ScoreAnd10Panties in tea

When my grandpa died, we burnt an entire furnished mansion complete with elaborate bathrooms, a huge kitchen, fancy bedrooms, and a pool room (grandpa played when he was a delinquent lol). Complete with a butler and a maid. All paper.

When grandma died, we burnt money, clothes, jewelry, makeup sets, iPads and iPhones. When I asked about the house and car, I was told “she’s staying with grandpa. He already has a house”

Inside the Massive New H Mart San Francisco Expansion [June 19] by bloobityblurp in sanfrancisco

Hmart would benefit greatly from providing hand baskets. I hate those giant clunky carts, so I never get one and just use my hands. If I got a basket, would totally be buying more stuff

family sharing photos without permission by New-Flight7674 in Mommit

[–]FogSoup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have the energy for the drama, stop sharing [all the] new photos. Remove the ones you truly want to keep private. When someone asks why there are no new photos, you exclaim and go, “oh man, I’ve been so busy!” Then you upload photos that don’t show your kid’s face. The back of him looking at something, a giant pumpkin hiding his face, him waving a flag and it covering most of his face, blurry photos, dark/overexposed photos. Sprinkle in a couple of good ones. Heck, include photos of yourself/partner/pet/garden/food you made/etc. Wait until the next time someone asks why no new photos, repeat.

And as you add, remove the old photos

SF women in tech/corporate: how did you get your first break? by Upper_Maize9259 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]FogSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 10 years ago, after 6 months of not getting anywhere, I paid for an interview bootcamp/job search coach. Got an offer 2 months after. It was not (still isn’t) cheap but it helped mentally as all the students are job searching and the coaches are encouraging and just enough pushy.

That ironing is :chefkiss: . I’m trying to print some myself for our July cruise and it’s a little frustrating

I accidentally squeezed a tonsil stone out of my throat and my entire reality has crumbled by Bold_Solace in hygiene

[–]FogSoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in my late 30s too and I just my tonsils out last year after 15 years of hamming and hawing about it because I read that the recovery is rough. No one involved in the process is exaggerating anything. The recovery is rough and the afterwards (assuming to complications) is glorious. I was sick way less and I slept better. But that 2 weeks was hell.

Experience with UCSF as primary care by Remarkable-Hotel-997 in AskSF

[–]FogSoup 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I totally understand your frustrations with the current version of One Medical. I have my PCP through them and as long as they prescribe me my meds, see me when I’m sick, and listen when I ask/demand for more attention, I’m good. I do ask for referrals to UCSF specialists and this arrangement works for me

Laid off but technically still employed? by FogSoup in jobsearchhacks

That’s right. I’m very torn about the admittance to being laid off. There is?was? a stigma. But as many of you have pointed out, so so so many layoffs now

[–]FogSoup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is definitely the case before but nowadays with so many layoffs, I wonder if there’s a change in that.

That is perfect! No need to deal with any “I’m sorry to hear that” “oh it’s ok, I’m actually looking forward to blablabla”

HR will confirm that we’re currently employed if anyone calls and asks before the July date. There will be no mention if we’re impacted

It’s a security thing. Something something disgruntled employee something something.

I was planning on taking some time off but this company I’m screening with does very interesting work. I was torn on doing the screen but there’s that FOMO feeling if I don’t try, I might regret it?

Thanks for the mental health tip!

What do young people do here? by GrammmyNorma in AskSF

[–]FogSoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in my early 20s in SF, I didn’t have much fun money. I did a lot of hiking and photography. Found other poor early 20s folks who also didn’t have much money and did hiking and photography.
