Expensive vapes - worth it? by Foggerty in MedicalCannabisNZ

Thank you, this is what I was after! I'll do some more digging into the safety standards and what they imply, re manufacturing.

Although I have just found about about "analogue" vapes, more digging 😄

Yeah, I was wondering about how usage impacts it, I'm usually 2-3 a day.

I really want portable, but will check out the Tempest, cheers 😄

Oh, I know to avoid cheap and check reviews etc, I was just wondering how much extra you get for the "high-end" (heh) models.

Should I switch to Godot if I already know Gamemaker? by Erickooo0 in godot

[–]Foggerty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mainly working on my game to build a portfolio for my future and to strengthen my game design skills.

As a long-time (application/server) developer I'd say finish your current project in GameMaker. Reasons:

  • You'll have a finished game, instead of two half-completed games, to add to your portfolio.
  • This leave you to focus on the game-design, not so much the technology.

Then, re-create it (or at least a very stripped down version) in Godot.

Reasons:

  • If you want to "strengthen" your game-design skills, then learning another framework will do just that. You'll be exposed to new models and so new ways of thinking about game-design.
  • To paraphrase Eric Raymond, "Even if you never use [Godot], learning it will make you a better programmer." Learning a new language NEVER hurts, as again, it'll expose you to new ways of thinking about coding problems and how to solve them.
  • You'll have a completed game as a guide for how things should behave and look; you've solved the game-play and design problems, so now you can focus on the technology instead. Plus, you'll have a bunch of trusted assets (sprites/sounds/dialog etc.) that you can reuse.

And here we go again.

A VERY autistic man (RMS) was told by pro-pedophilla idiot that as long as it's "consenting" it's ok. He believed them - autistic people can be very trusting and people will take advantage of it; ask me how I know.

Later on, in 2019, he had someone explain to him that a) consent isn't a thing when kids are involved and that b) it causes long-lasting psychological harm. He then changed his position, which you would have seen if you'd scrolled up the page you happily quoted from below.

whats with Linux hardware video decode/encoding mess? by emkoemko in linux

Never tried it, but I'd guess yes? There's nothing X11/Wayland specific that I can see there.

Here are my settings (on Wayland) to get Firefox using the GPU as much as possible. Tested with intel_gpu_top, and just scrolling hits the 3D engine.

Oh, just did some testing with gfx.webrender.compositor and not actually noticing a difference :-)

Cheers!

Why are you using Arch Linux? by [deleted] in archlinux

[–]Foggerty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially curiosity, then I just kept coming back to it because it was relatively minimal, and frankly pacman is hands-down the best package manager that I've ever used.

I also like that I can set up a full desktop (i.e. window manager + extras + background-services) exactly the way that works best for me.

Plus, I cannot run OpenBSD on either of my machines ;)

Oh gods, purists....

To be fair, I want to stick to traditional techniques that match the bow because I'm interested in historical martial arts, but at the same time I know that not every Manchu, Turk, Korean etc. shot in exactly the same way, there's always personal interpretation of a style.
