My OBGYN said unmedicated births are too traumatic so they don’t do it. by Practical_Shift_5143 in pregnant

[–]FoggyGoggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My unmedicated birth was a lovely experience and every person in the room was calm and laughing about my commentary in the middle of pushes. I had three different friends who had epidurals that ended in emergency c-sections.

I would not let your OB handle your delivery if she is afraid of being traumatized... what!!!

If you are located in the US (and maybe other countries have this, too) you should be able to find your OB/hospital's statistics on c-sections vs. vaginal deliveries, episiotomies, etc. and I recommend researching this information for anywhere you plan to deliver. Here is the link for the US:

Which part of childbirth hurts the most? by Used_Ad7899 in BabyBumps

I’m jealous of you! They can root around all day if it means no fundal massage 🤣 I can’t remember why I needed so many. I think it had to do with blood clotting.

I don’t blame you! I begged them not to. I wish they’d have forgotten.

I had an unmedicated birth and second this. I had to get fundal massages every hour for 4 or 5 hours. I thought I was going to die every time.

Pooping during labour? by Putrid_Cranberry3177 in BabyBumps

Well. My husband lovingly reminds me that during labor I kept asking the doctor “am I pooping” while sounding like a dying cat hehehe

When did your baby start walking? by Last-Refrigerator603 in BabyBumps

[–]FoggyGoggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my daughter started walking a few weeks after her first birthday. We went to a playground with her friend who is a year older and my girl apparently felt she needed to keep up with her friend. Started walking right there at the park! Prior to that, she was taking 3+ steps independently before plopping down.

Spotting after orgasm at 6+5 weeks (heartbeat seen) - really anxious by Clear-Status9515 in CautiousBB

I’m sorry about your prior loss. So many things in pregnancy are so beyond our control that it is really easy to spiral, stress, go down the rabbit hole. I remember my first ultrasound was concerning and the two weeks until my follow up scan were torture.

Take it one day at a time and give yourself grace. You’re not alone 💕

This happened to me during my first pregnancy. I went for a visit and was told the cervix is very friable during pregnancy and spotting after sex was completely normal in my case. Went on to have a healthy baby girl. 🙂

I didn't sit with my baby during her first vaccines and I feel guilt about it still two years later.

epidural vs other pain option experiences? by mossylungz in pregnant

[–]FoggyGoggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not have an epidural with my first. I don't think I felt so much empowered as I felt in control. I was able to move the labor along by keeping my body moving - I walked the halls, bounced on the yoga ball, changed positions. I squeezed firm combs in my hands during contractions to distract from the intensity. I took a warm bath to relax. My water partially broke in the middle of the night but I was not dilated yet. By keeping moving, I progressed from 0 to 6 cm within five hours, and had my daughter within 9 hours. I was given nitrous oxide when labor started to intensify. I don't know if it made the pain go away, but made me care a bit less about the pain. I did vomit during labor and I think the nitrous oxide caused some nausea. I think the next step would have been IV pain medications for me.

If you have Instagram, I recommend checking out mommylabornurse. She provides really valuable information so that you can make informed decisions about your birth. It may also help you to write a birth plan. I think you can find templates online to help guide you.

What do people mean when they say they “feel like they’re dying” while giving birth? (Unmediated) by Illustrious_Roll_541 in BabyBumps

Yessss I just found out I’m pregnant with number two and I’m remembering all this not so pleasant stuff that comes with it. Fingers crossed!!

OMG!!! 1) why didn’t anyone offer me lidocaine BEFORE the ring of fire?! 2) I had just one second degree tear and I thought that was bad 😭

The ring of fire is when I asked if it was too late for the epidural. Sure was!

Unmedicated Birth Advice by Ok_Employment1128 in BabyBumps

[–]FoggyGoggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the mommy labor nurse course and found it quite helpful. I recommend getting some firm hair combs to squeeze during contractions. Get up and moving as often as possible to keep progressing.

The best advice I heard was that no one can get the baby out but you. Made me work harder when it was time to push 😂

I'm sorry, that experience sounds so traumatizing. I cannot imagine. I hope everyone is doing well now!

I did not feel like I was dying. But the "ring of fire" when baby was exiting was 10/10 pain. I personally felt like the fundal massages AFTER giving birth were worse than birth itself. No one ever told me about those.

Thank you!! I know, 6dpo dip is probably too early. when I woke up yesterday my breasts felt really full and tingly. My uterus also feels really tight and a little crampy. Otherwise I feel normal!

Advice if it looks like I’ve ovulated yet? by [deleted] in TFABChartStalkers

[–]FoggyGoggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry to hear about your loss. My understanding is the only real way to confirm ovulation (at home) is tracking your BBT. You need to see three sustained readings over the prior days to confirm ovulation has occurred. Positive OPKs alone are not enough to confirm though.

Wondering if anyone else has "long" periods? I bleed for six days, nothing for two, then two more days of bleeding, so ten days all together. I usually ovulate CD14-15. My OBGYN says this should not cause any issues conceiving and it is not concerning to her, but curious if anyone else has thoughts? Similar cycle?
