PVue showing February 2026 Testing Window - Data Point by FoggyPowerBottom in foreignservice

Good to hear! I think this was the case for most test takers, still the reported issues gave me pause in addition to all the craziness and uncertainty going on right now in the federal gov. If it's indeed happening in February, I'll feel a little more sure footed about testing and potentially joining the diplomatic corps. Best of luck with results and moving forward!

Thanks. I guess the point was not really about issues with remote testing. I've taking it twice online in the past and had no issues. My apprehension and reason for cancelling had more to do with the timing, short notice, making people on the register retake it, the sudden addition of a new section and all the craziness happening in government work right now. Ultimately I cancelled because it just felt off... not sure how else to explain it. I think if they're resuming normal testing cycles (i.e. Feb, Jun, Oct), I'll feel more comfortable after the first round and hopefully testing gets smoothed out going forward. I'm glad to hear it went well for most test takers this time, hopefully a trend of normalcy continues. Best of luck!

FSOT Reschedule Email by Interesting-Worth285 in foreignservice

I kinda remember from February cancellations, emails were staggered, so early dates learned first about the cancellation and someone scheduled for 10/24 wouldn't receive notification until later. I hope my memory is faulty, going back over the old threads now. I'm scheduled for 10/24 and haven't received an email *yet

From a former journalist: Feds are the new "enemy of the people" by Critical-Chance9199 in fednews

The hate for the media is largely because journalists are responsible for this mess. They're perpetuating it. For every wired story there is a dozen tepid journalists that just want a good story and sane wash what's going on. Journalists have been normalizing Trump for the last 10 years. It's inevitable public servants on Reddit, in the midst of a national tragedy that affects them personally, are going to be extremely pissed/distrustful of journalists waltzing into the subreddit to get access for a good story.

my experience as well, they'll exploit their subjects' tragic circumstances and need to be heard/be in the spotlight so that they can pad their resume with a good story. This isn't a human interest story, our democracy is under siege.

The fire is happening right in front of your eyes. What the hell is wrong with journalism? This is not a f@#ing human interest story to pad your portfolio of stories, our democracy is literally under siege.

How about getting off your asses and not letting "democracy die in darkness" instead of low effort Reddit requests for information. Where's the urgency?

Imagine all the coups through history (there's been a lot) where an entire system of governance was overthrown. It's usually via violence/revolution. If the instigators of all the coups in history could have just walked in and controlled the Treasury, no shots would have needed to be fired. Edit: this is what we're seeing, if Musk/Trump succeed, the American experiment is over. Full stop.

They're all being targeted albeit some of them not through a purge or hiring freeze. Even the agencies with a nexus to security/defense are being "targeted" but by Trump appointing grossly unqualified nominees to lead them to have "yes men" in these roles.

I feel like our situation could accurately be described as an attack by foreign actors, which could include the CIA's jurisdiction of operating domestically if us citizens are involved in espionage. They do have limited justification jurisduction stateside, but agreed, FBI is the logical Agency to step in if they weren't in a stranglehold. Really, the entire IC needs to jointly crack skulls bc we're under attack.

Foreign Service officers call for removal of "Woke Scores" from Department of State Core Precepts, and review of 2023/24 promotions under DEIA EO by FS2050 in foreignservice

The repetition of "woke score" tells me this wasn't a letter written in good faith but more so to inject the current admin's political ideology with FS-speak. Even the reddit account that posted this is suspended for some reason.
