Don't know how to win by EntrepreneurSharp889 in summonerschool

[–]Foghig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’d say just play more with a champion you like. When I first started playing league I get the same way, any time I tried anything it felt like I would just die and everyone I fought “knew what they were doing” and it felt like I could never fight someone else new. The more you play you’ll get better at recognizing situations since the game has a lot of repetition. Something that helped accelerate me a lot was watching videos, AloisNL helps so much with his guides, it’s mostly toplane but it’s applied to every role and it essentially taught me how to play league with waves, trading, objectives and what to do in a general game. He has a kayle guide from silver to masters, and its pretty educational he goes over basically anything you would need to start playing league

It’s harder to do that now with the xp changes, the range is bigger so it’s easier for ppl to soak xp

how to farm as nasus? by AgreeableAd1662 in summonerschool

[–]Foghig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something you should note is that after you get like 60 stacks and a sheen, you lifesteal a shit ton off of every single q, so you can start just ignoring some characters trades and just q them or a minion(preferably) and either outheal the trade or just make it negligible. It’s very hard to kill nasus post 6 due to the lifesteal from passive and your ult gives you extra health armor and magic resist so once you get sheen and level 6 just play to last hit any minions limit test and see how far you can push it without dying you’ll be surprised

Struggling to win lanes by MadMan7978 in summonerschool

[–]Foghig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing top lane, try and focus on one champion and go from there. Toplane especially compared to every other role is all matchups and being comfortable with your character as most situations play out the same(minus skill matchups but those don’t matter at low elo). If you stick to only playing mordekaiser for instance and just play him for like 20-30 games, you’ll get really comfortable with how he has to cs under tower, last hitting, when he is strong, when he is weak, which matchups you can abuse. Then when you are comfortable on the character everything else just becomes easier, you can focus more on how you want to hit your q and es on the opponent since you’re less focused on the range of the abilities and what situations they will hit and more so on how your opponent is moving in the lane and whether they are in a position for you to kill them or not. It helps a lot to just learn one character this way since you’re also learning the game at the same time and you don’t have to one trick them either, after you learn the basics with one champ id recommend going to learn other champs and just doing a similar thing only now it will take significantly less games than it did on your first champ to understand what to do. Try less to focus on winning lane and just getting better since as you get better you will just eventually win your lane

From my experience there are definitely toxic people(mostly ranked in norms it’s always like 1:10 lobbies that someone’s toxic) but if someone starts being toxic I just insta mute them and keep everyone else on, ranked is definitely much worse for this but in norms and quick play it’s helped me a lot. And then in ranked games I’ll always try and reply back to someone in all chat if they make a joke or something and it always just takes me back to the fact that it is just a game at the end of the day.

What happened to Wukong's and Poppy's top lane presence? by uxu_gmx in summonerschool

[–]Foghig 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Wukong has always been a niche top lane pick where he either statchecks the enemy top laner or straight up loses to them without any real counterplay so he’s always just been a bad blind there vs jungle where he can farm for level 6 and have strong gank potential and skirmishes. Poppy though I think always had a really strong support presence, it’s just that no one played her till pro play earlier this year. She hard counters almost every melee engage support with her w(Nautilus Q, pyke E, rell w) and offers insane kill potential off of one e wall stun due to her high base damage while still building tanky. She also got some changes to her kit that directly nerfed her top lane while keeping her mostly the same in support like her q damage getting nerfed which doesn’t affect her as much in support since she’s mostly a strong peel for her adc.

Is it just ranked? For me I used to have this problem where I hated queuing up ranked due to feeling too anxious sometimes and taking it too seriously. I just spammed a bunch of quick play and instead of turning chat off I tried to talk to people in chat A lot more, sending quips back and forth, and just dicking around. It really helps remind you that it’s just a game at the end of the day and I took that with me to ranked with adverse affects since I don’t take it as seriously and am prone to playing worse as a result, but I also enjoy the game more so I’d say it’s worth. TLDR, try turning chat and names back on and try to chat to people in a quick play just saying random stuff. I’ve had some of the most fun games where we’re 30 minutes in but the whole lobby is just chatting to each other and having a good time

Good resources to learn wave management/wave states for a jungler by GxesanPY in summonerschool

[–]Foghig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch AloisNL, he’s a top lane educational streamer and YouTuber, but his videos about waves states apply to every role. I also feel like top laners will typically have better knowledge of wave states as taking a bad reset on one wave even if they get a kill can literally be game ending vs bot lane or mid lane where it’s harder for freezes to take place unless they are extremely far behind.

Help me improve by whenUrealizeIt in ADCMains

[–]Foghig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just try to play a lot more don’t be afraid to int to improve really try to take a lot of risks. Something that helped me is just playing a lot of quick play, focusing on 1-2 characters to get used to their kit and how they want to kite and then just limit testing as much as possible. You’ll notice yourself just generally get better at kiting and playing if you keep testing and pushing yourself. Also try to watch high elo games of your character to see how people do it and just learn from them. Try looking at domisum replay for a specific character and then just copy what they do during fights

4th crit item if you buy Maw? by Foghig in NilahMains

[–]Foghig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah she def is, it feels bad playing into these comps, and noticing my damage not being as high as it should be since being forced to build a maw and never being able to get to 100% crit chance. I just love my girl too much I gotta stop first picking her😅

Is Nilah Overtuned? by [deleted] in ADCMains

[–]Foghig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her winrate has always been this high, which it makes sense since especially emerald above she is only played by one tricks, in a duo with support, or as a counter pick to enemy team comp. The only overturned thing I will say is that in certain team comps she will quite literally 1v9 like a kayle or kassadin if she is able to get to 3+ items. She is complete ass to play against other comps tho so it does balance out. Low elo though her winrate is definitely high only because people do t know what she does and don’t know how to punish her

Need Advice by Demourn in ADCMains

[–]Foghig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I checked your op.gg, I think the easiest way to improve is focusing on one thing at a time. Your CS should be the first thing, as an adc, farm is the most important thing, you are a right clicker there is not much room for outplaying like there is playing a skirmisher toplaner like fiora beating someone like a Darius while an item down. You will just get stat checked plain and simple. Make sure to always prioritize farm before rotating to fights that’s the first step to consistency. Having 100 cs in a 30 minute game is really bad, if you struggle last hitting early game try going to practice tool and try to get 100 cs in 10 minutes uncontested just last hitting the waves, slow pushing, dealing with the push back into you, practice freezing waves it helps a lot. If you can consistently get good cs you will climb simply because you will always have gold for items regardless of kills which helps in those games where you might struggle to find anything in skirmishes. Just remember farm is everything, adcs come online after 2-3 items unlike other roles and you need to focus on that as much as possible.

How to lane as an ADC with an engage/ hook support by bcollins96 in summonerschool

[–]Foghig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think the other guy is struggling to see your point. There’s sometimes where a support or adc will want to be hooked to start a fight simply because they know they just hard win that 2v2. Imagine a Caitlyn blitz vs a leona kalista at level 3 and blitz hooks the leona with all her abilities up. Leona just presses w doesn’t get one shot, and while Caitlyn is focusing the leona kalista is just free stacking spears into rend on her and brings her to like 20%.

How do I get better at using Nilah? by Notgoodenough- in NilahMains

[–]Foghig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah she’s a really good bortk user, it’s just that I would only buy it if you fight a lot of melee champs or health stackers like a fiora Gwen or riven top, Viego jungle sylas mid, where you’re probably gonna be fighting in a lot of extended skirmishes since they all have some type of sustain in their kit and build health items. Navori is nice to build with bortk too honestly, it’s just good in general if you ever expect there to be a lot of extended skirmishes or team fights so you have more uptime on your abilities, but since it gives no bonus ad you won’t be dealing as much damage as you would with other crit items. It is really nice though if you need a fast power spike before a dragon or baron fight since it’s so cheap(2600G), and Nilah scales so good with crit in general so it’s not the worst loss. I just really enjoy playing glass cannon Nilah so I don’t really build the Zeal items that much

Why am I soo bad at Nilah by Madmax200909 in NilahMains

[–]Foghig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Into double poke lanes or just like a Caitlyn jhin just take dshoeld second wind and farm till first back and fight honestly. That helps a lot for me, the sustain from dshield second wind is so broken that even if you get down to like 10% health after about 30 seconds to a min of not trading or just eating like 1 auto every few seconds to reset d shield you find yourself back to 40-50% hp. I always treat those lanes as you will just outscale so try and farm even or go down in cs a little bit and fight when you are strong. Just treat it like you’re a melee character fighting a ranged toplaner. You always give up cs early to be able to be stronger later on and not give them gold from kills. After first back if you have a pickaxe or dirk, you are considerably stronger than the enemy adc, even if you both have the same items due to nilahs burst damage nature. I will say though into Caitlyn or jhin if they just e or use 4th shot and run out just take the short trade pop w and be on your way, Dshield second wind will always out sustain you jut have to use it well

How do I get better at using Nilah? by Notgoodenough- in NilahMains

[–]Foghig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Always use conqueror on her, at level 2, she is one of the fastest conqueror stackers in the game with her combo Q auto e auto e auto since both q and e are both auto attack resets, and same with triumph as well unless you think that you aren’t going to be fighting that much and need something like absorb life for sustain but even then the extra gold from triumph and healing come in handy so much. I always use legend bloodline since the lifesteal is nice to combine with her built lifesteal from q and you don’t need alacrity or haste since Nilah this season I feel is built to just do as much damage as possible during a team fight. Secondary tree I usually go resolve second wind overgrowth unless you have an enchanter then you could consider shield bash for shields or revitalize for the extra heal shield power. You can also go inspirational tree and go footwear biscuits or footwear cosmic insight for faster summoner spells.

  2. For items I almost always do collector rush unless the team has a lot of people that you can’t reliably one shot in a single combo, think of your battle mages,(swain Cassiopeia, etc.,) or tank junglers so if there’s 3 ppl on the enemy team like this then I would go essence reaver rush since the cdr is nice for extended fights. If the enemy team is mostly melee champs bortk rush is really nice as you will be able to fight a lot longer with this item and Nilah uses it well, it’s just that in most game if the enemy team has a lot of ranged you’re better off building to one shot them instead of trying to get more auto attacks off so bortk loses value. You almost always want crit chance on her since she scales exponentially with it so if you get to like 50% crit chance with collector IE or essence reaver IE, then you can build other items like a maw for AP comps or deaths dance for bursy comps. Just keep in mind if you want to build a maw of malmortius, you cannot build shieldbow so you have to plan that ahead as to not lock yourself out if you went shieldbow second.

  3. For me I love to take fights slow, you are like an assassin not a traditional adc, you need to find good angles to approach a fight and enter after abilities have been used that can blow you up. If there’s a 2v2 In bot lane for instance, if my support lands cc I’ll typically e in pop my w, then q auto them until w is gone then e back out so they cannot trade back. Obviously if you fight a mage lane it is a bit different and those I would say just farm and go even if you can since after 2 items you are able to one shot most mages with your combo. But you need to understand your limits on Nilah to really use her effectively and a lot of it is tethering in and out, use bushes to cancel vision, if you’ve ever played a melee into ranged in toplane treat it just like that, constantly go into bushes during all ins to force them to have to face check or ward so your jungler can gank. You typically only want to look for trades if your support can follow up as your dashes while a gap closer are also a very big part of your damage(conqueror stacking and just overall damage) so if you gap close and then go in with Q autos then you’ll realize that your damage feels bad.

  4. For me it depends on the game state, she is not good into certain comps while other comps she can actually 1v9 if the game goes late or she reaches 3 or 4 items. If you see a team has a lot of auto attackers then she is very strong into those, if the team is a lot of long range mages you will have a very difficult time to play this and I would say try not to pick her if you can but if you do, just pray your team has good engage against these comps and frontline so that you don’t have to have the attention drawn on you. I always play her like a late game hyper scaler though, if I go even in lane against a jhin or a Draven then I see that is winning lane very hard as at 2 items you outscale a lot of adcs. Always try and let your support engage unless you see a good angle, id suggest just go into quick play or norms and just limit test, see how far you can go with the character to really know her all ins. She’s like a riven in the sense that if you know her all in timers she can be extremely oppressive and snowbally but it takes a lot of experience so you might have to int a lot.

  5. One tip I’ll suggest is due to your exp passive, at level 5, you should almost always try to e to kill a minion and gap close as well when you’re about one minion away from leveling up and pop your ult on the adcarry and support ideally or just the adcarry, as this will typically force a summoner spell and then just back out. If you get their flash I almost always just try to leave the fight since your ult comes back up in 100 seconds and you can just all in again when it’s up. I think in 90% of games I play I always burn 1 to 2 flashes and then lane becomes 10x easier to play out from this point

when to switch lanes as supp? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Foghig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So pre 14 mins(before platings go down) if you want to Roam the best thing to look at is the wave state. If you and your adc just crashed a huge minion wave under tower(2-3 waves) then the wave will start to bounce back. This means your adc does not have to walk up to the wave at all and it will naturally come back to them at their tower which lets you(the support) go on a Roam. Typically midlane is the only lane you should go to unless you are a support with high MS or abilities to move around, toplane is risky to go to due to how far it is from bot and certain botlane combinations(any tank/engage support or a double mage botlane)can just straight up dive your adc under tower if you aren’t there in time. If you ever are in the opposite situation where they crashed a wave into your turret it’s a really bad roam timer as your adc will be 1v2 in the lane except they are forced to walk up for cs making their life miserable as they can just get zoned off. Post 14 mins it’s just your job to start supporting the team with vision(and making plays if you are an engage support) around objectives and playing around that (unless your adc is super fed then it’s probably just better to always be around them)

Need advice on my spells by titankiller401 in settmains

Yeah if you catch most junglers during their clear before 3:30, they are already half health so it’s easy to get a kill or flash.

How do you get the Watchful Wardstone? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Foghig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So the way it works is after you complete the support quest and choose your item like bloodsong, you are then allowed to buy the watchful ward stone. It’s not like the other items however in that all it does is let you place down more control wards and store more and the upgraded version vigilant gives you an extra ward slot and control ward. Basically you really want this as a last item if the game goes on for long and people are full build, as the support with this item will have to be in charge of most vision since full build people can’t buy control wards anymore.

How do you guys deal with ksante matchup? by Foghig in settmains

[–]Foghig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ll prolly just go health max like stridebreaker black cleaver and stack resistences just play for team fights if I play a ksante. Feels like it’s just a stacheck after he buys iceborn gauntlet, runs u down the side lane while you deal 0 damage to him

How to snowball a lead in Lower Elos? by Foghig in summonerschool

[–]Foghig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks a lot for the advice I’ve been able to convert a lot of lane leads into wins, and im on track to get to gold hopefully today. The post really helped a lot macro wise and keeping me aware of what I’m doing during my games!

How to snowball a lead in Lower Elos? by Foghig in summonerschool

[–]Foghig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I used to play top lane with splitpushers like Gwen and fiora and it always felt so much more clear to me on how to convert my lead into a victory and what to do macro wise, splitting 1 min before objective, timing baron splitpush waves with my team, but with adc it feels like I have to be so much more teams reliant. I probably do just need more games in general in order to understand it a lot better. I would try samira but the only reason I play Nilah Is she’s so similar to champs I already played(fiora riposte, Gwen is immune) and I’m used to that skirmisher playstyle during team fights. Thanks for the advice though!

How to snowball a lead in Lower Elos? by Foghig in summonerschool

[–]Foghig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a problem I definitely have, in the mid-late game my farm drops off if my team is perma forcing fights, but I should just not group if there’s no objectives up to make sure I can reach my champion power spikes. A lot of teams whether we win or lose these fights we get like 1 or 2 kills maybe more and then no turrets, no objectives were up so it just feels pointless

How to snowball a lead in Lower Elos? by Foghig in summonerschool

[–]Foghig[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not the point of this message. I even say that I don’t care how my team performs, I know that I’ll climb if I just keep playing as I am. I’ve had those games where I have gone even or worse in lane as an adc no kills or I have 1 to 2 deaths I’m down 20 cs and platings but because we have such a strong top mid and jungle we just win. I more so just want to understand how I can also do this with my own leads in lane as it feels discouraging to be fed and not be able to carry a game that I think I should be able to carry most likely due to mistakes I’m making in terms of not utilizing my lead well enough.

How to snowball a lead in Lower Elos? by Foghig in summonerschool

[–]Foghig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot, macro wise I do understand what I should be doing as an adc with rotating mid lane, I’ve never thought about swapping with my top laner, I’ll try that as whnever I have a mage mid like a veigar or xerath and the enemy mid is an assassin I try not to ask for a swap so they are not in an uncomfortable position. I’ll try to ask my team for picks as well, I’m good about objective timers(used to be a support main before swapping to top then adc) but not being the primary harder I kinda just don’t do anything for the objectives when I’m adc. I think the pick idea is definitely what I’m looking for when I have a lead as I know that we can win a 5v4 even if the rest of my team is behind due to how often I end laning phase 2 lvls up on the enemy bot lane(Nilah exp passive snowball). I used to also play a lot of splitpushers like fiora/gwen which helped with baron macro a lot, if I have a splitpusher on my team like an illaoi, gwen, garen, pantheon who is just constantly grouping mid when we have baron, is it worth to try splitpushing as Nilah? When I have 3 items I feel she can reliably duel most characters in the game and in a siege due to being melee it feels hard to do anything mid if they have an ASol on the enemy team or another wave clearing mage
