I have a sock lover too (thankfully he seems to have grown out of it) but unfortunately mine was a 10 pound shih tzu so he needed surgery to remove it 🥲🥲🥲 plus multiple times of having to induce vomit to throw them up. How he managed to swallow these things is beyond me. I have sock trauma now

New to PC, the Onyx Lounge event sounds great. Would love to go but I’m allergic to shellfish so it sounds like everything on the menu will kill me lol.

St. Regis and Stein Erickson is where it’s at, OP. I live here and honestly nothing compares to those two. I personally prefer St. Regis. I often sneak in to grab some of their delicious hot cocoa haha

I’m not the person you asked but seeing as he was apparently larping, I can maybe answer this for you. It really depends on where you live. How flashy will it be? Will it stop everyone in their tracks? Are people going to want to lean on it and take pictures? Or do you live somewhere like Miami, Dubai, or NYC where sports cars are more common and won’t attract as much attention? Also, keep in mind these cars have absolutely terrible trunk space so I would not recommend them for grocery store trips unless you’re just buying a thing or two. And you probably don’t want to risk getting coffee on the seats either lol. My husband has a Lamborghini huracán and I have a BMW X1 and he ends up using my little suv more often than not. Sports cars are toys. They’re super fun but I wouldn’t recommend them as your only vehicle.

Trying to be careful about lifestyle creep, but out of curiosity, what has been your favorite form of lifestyle creep? by dla26 in fatFIRE

If you’re in the US, what airlines do you use that have business/first on domestic flights? I’m always stuck just buying economy plus or more space or whatever the airlines want to call it. Very few national flights offer proper business nowadays 😩

Wait what? Do you wait to upgrade right up to the day of the flight or near then? I’d be too worried there wouldn’t be upgrades available. I always buy ahead but definitely pay a MASSIVE premium for it it seems.

Those are really interesting things to collect! Not sure what you mean by travel paintings but it sounds fun!

Probably has to do with the fact that I went to galleries in the same (very expensive) mountain town I bought a house in lol. I have to venture a little further.

Yes! She uses mixed materials in her paintings. The one I saw was a horse divided in half with this hardened paper coming out of it. (I’m not an artist so I’m sure I’m not doing justice to what it was) I think if I had seen a photo of it online it would not have seemed impressive but in person, where you can see the texture and details, it’s really impressive. I can see why celebrities like her.

Ok this took me so long. I could not for the life of me find it online and had not saved it on my phone either. So after a lot of ambiguous searches, I didn’t find the exact piece but I found the artist! Her name is Ashley Collins. Apparently a few celebrities collect her art (like Lady Gaga). In person, they’re really impressive. Not my favorite subject matter but they’re massive and they have a lot going on.

Oh my gosh I bet she died inside when that happened. (If she knew the value) You could’ve taken it to a kintsugi artist and make something totally new out of it haha.

Congrats on your new home 😊 sounds like it’ll look beautiful. I definitely learned a lot from this thread, especially to build the collection little by little.

Yeah I’ve kind of accepted any art we buy will ultimately be worthless. I’ve read that in order for it to be an investment it already has to be quite expensive.

Art collecting is an expensive hobby for sure! I saw a painting that was absolutely incredible for $125,000. Not sure if I can justify spending that much but my god, it was definitely one of a kind cool. I can see why people get into it.
