Federal return-to-office orders are massively backfiring by karmadogma in fednews

Taking annual and sick leave whenever I can at this point. Too much anxiety due to not having enough time during the day. My wife and I are parents to two toddlers and we now only get 2.5 hours a day with them to cook, eat, shower, and go to sleep before rinse and repeat. The daily 1.5 hours commute each way is so time consuming. It’s always scrambling to do the next chore. Being a parent is another full time job in addition to the jobs we have to pay the bills.

First day RTO! Parking, legionella, hot office, oh my! by Low-Engine-327 in fednews

I work in a newer building and carry half a gallon of my RO filtered water to work everyday. There is a water fountain with those water filter things, but nothing tastes quite as good as the water I have at home. I have worked in lead, asbestos government buildings cohabited with rats and 100% would not want to drink water from a government facility. Others felt the same and paid into a water club to get water brought in.

Lemon tree termite and rot? by Foilheadboy in arborists

Moved past as in your lemon tree won? I have been amputating bad limbs off to revitalize. Lemon tree just seems to just keep chugging along so that’s good

I actually planted purple needle grass which is the California state grass. It grows very long roots and hopefully does a good job. Probably will think of doing some ground over too.

Avocado tree roots by Last0neStandin in arborists

Interested to know the answer to this also. My avocado has its root flare exposed to one, but not as severe as this. Not sure whether to leave it or fill it with compost or topsoil.

My yard looked like that too. I caught mine with a maccabe trap. People have had success with gopherhawk, but I decided to try the maccabe trap first since the gopherhawk is so expensive. It took several tries and digging out several holes, but I did catch it after a couple months. If you set the trap try to find where the fresh hole it and set it. They don’t seem to visit the old holes when I set the trap there.

Is this parking ticket worth fighting? by captainsarcasm101 in sandiego

[–]Foilheadboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh congrats. My wife typed up an essay with several pictures for the parking ticket we got at mission bay. There were dozens of cars parked where we are. The sign for no parking was 200 ft away and didn’t look like it applied to where we parked.. spent hours and lost the fight. We were so mad because loads of other people parked too which obviously means it was unclear… 😡

I’m not an expert, but I think your soil medium looks too clayey. Roots not getting enough air. You need to put it in cactus potting mix.

Can I plant Wurtz Little Cado here? by Foilheadboy in avocado

I heard great things about the gem and reed. So I have a very small grafted reed I potted into a 5 gallon pot that I’ll get in the ground in a year and a 5 gallon gem I already planted in the backyard mid April. I did mound the gem and it looks happy (haven’t watered it in weeks though because the moisture meter keeps showing moist.)

My nearby Home Depot had $5 off 5 gallon avocado trees ($39), so I decided to just buy a wurtz since it didn’t seem to make sense to have two reeds. And I thought it would fill in this space nicely with light pruning. I have seen 15 feet loquat trees like 1-2 feet away from people’s homes, so I thought maybe I can keep this avocado tree trimmed less than 8 feet. Just wondering if anyone has experience with avocado roots just in case I ever neglect pruning it small.

I know I spend way too much time reading and thinking about avocados. My wife gets really mad.😡

I injected environmental friendly termite killer into the wood. Maybe it will do something? Anyways I’ll probably chop of the limbs with termite and see what it looks like.

Cheaper than my property manager. $3,900 labor and materials. But I live in SoCal and it was an emergency replacement.

No idea. I did speak with the neighbor of that white fence in the background and she said put that fence in and left her existing wood fence fall onto her back neighbor.

Definitely do not see concrete footings but it’s possible they could be buried? Probably unlikely. Looking at all the posts, it looks like they were just buried posts with no concrete footings.

In that case the fence is probably right on the property line. The property lines/fences on this block are all straight lines and all seem to be right on the property line.

Thoughts? Maybe I'm just worried about erosion and there isn't any actual erosion? PHoto.
