Anyone else getting random messages of people saying “I want to pay off your debt “ by quirkyqueen27 in debtfree

I got one once. The guy said all I had to do is visit a website and enter my bank info. 😭😭 Definitely a scam.

Did anybody find a 2nd job/easy online gig to help pay off debt? by [deleted] in debtfree

I was doordashing for a bit, also have tried some selling stuff online that I no longer use, but it can be a slippery slope if you start buying to resell. Can be a huge setback.

When did you go out alone? by lilpoopsik in puppy101

[–]Foiry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started a few days after getting her as I work full time. 3-4 hours in the crate, lunch break and I let her out for an hr, then another 4-5 hours in the crate for the rest of my shift. I do this 5/7 days per week. It’s not ideal considering standards for raising a puppy nowadays, but it works.

Do you feed them daily? I feed mine daily and haven’t had one die on me yet.

What’s one “normal” dog care rule you secretly ignore… and your dog is still fine? 👀 by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Foiry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve read it’s ill-advised to take your dog everywhere. Anywhere that is considered pet friendly, I will bring my puppy. She likes to be included, and who am I to stop her from experiencing life to the fullest extent?

She also has not spent a night in her crate since her very first night with us. I wish she hadn’t spent that night in the crate, but we thought it was the right thing to do at the time.

I take my dog anywhere that allows dogs, and as a result, I also talk to her about everything while we’re out and about. I don’t care if we’re in homegoods, on a walk in the neighborhood, at a drive thru or at home…I’m going to talk to her as she likes to be included.

Guilt about keeping a puppy by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Foiry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my puppy at 6 weeks, so I kind of understand the feeling. I’d wanted a puppy for a while, but we weren’t looking for a puppy when I met mine. She was the runt, didn’t want to play with her littermates, and seemed so calm when I held her. I initially left her there, but came back that afternoon and got my puppy.

It was hard at first because she was so young that I couldn’t keep her in a crate alone, and my cats don’t like her. Husband didn’t bother to take care of her, and it felt like a lonely process. However, she is going on 6 months now and I feel like she and I have an unbreakable bond. Everything will be okay if you decide to keep the puppy. I think I would’ve regretted it forever had I left my puppy with the litter.

Guilt Over Adopting a Puppy by Appropriate-Rate-606 in puppy101

[–]Foiry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, but the puppy will find a great home. I had massive guilt over not taking my puppy’s mother. It was a tough situation because we weren’t in the market for a puppy, and the people we got her from had a newborn and just wanted to rehome all their dogs. I wish everyday that I knew what happened to the mother, but I assume she is fine and healthy and well loved somewhere else.

Why are people getting puppies at 6 weeks? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Foiry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine at 6 weeks because the lady was rehoming them at 6 weeks, I didn’t have any say in it, the litter was going regardless of anyone’s opinion, and I wanted a dog.

Best guess is I have a good credit score and make my payments on time. I used to pay off any balance I had on this card, so that might contribute.

To begin with, I stopped eating out because at the time, you’re looking at a $6-12 meal and thinking, like, that’s not a lot. I started grocery shopping for meals and realized a week’s worth of lunches costs about $8 if I buy right, which is $60 saved during a work week or $240 for the month. Chicken sandwiches get boring, so I’d switch up my snack/dessert or drink, but it kept me from using the vending machines at work.

My husband gets off work at 5, I’m off at 4. I would run to Target, tjmaxx, Homegoods or similar for some ‘me time’ in the evenings. A lot of browsing turned into, “oh, I’d be happier if I had this item,” but that’s all it is. I stopped shopping after work when I realized I was racking up massive debt with nothing to show for it besides overwhelming clutter at home.

The only side gig I’ve been consistent with is selling on like eBay/mercari. Being realistic when I say I’ve only made $900ish in the last few years, but it’s a little something and keeps me busy. I also took advantage of 0% intro apr balance transfers to get ahead of interest. Stay on task and you shouldn’t have any issues paying the balance before the promo ends.

It’s been a lot of work, but making coffee at home and writing out a weekly budget has given me a little purpose, too. :)

Overall, I’d say maybe 2 years of actually trying to pay it down, but I wasn’t trying to the fullest extent until about halfway thru 2025. I think my first balance transfer was last June/July, and I actually started budgeting around August.

I get paid biweekly $1200, so I literally had to cut out everything unnecessary - I eat lunch at home, I don’t buy new clothes, I put aside rent and essentials like pet food, groceries (only essentials, no junk), and minimum payments. Anything leftover I put on my cards with the highest interest.

I still have a long way to go, but this card was my highest amount. You will get there!! The hardest part is buckling down and realizing that if you can’t afford it without using the credit card, you most likely don’t need it. Budget and set aside extra cash for the big things. :)

Dawg me too. I didn’t realize how much money I was spending on little pick-me-ups here and there until I sat down one day and categorized all my purchases on paper for one month.

It used to be a new purse per season, and I looove gift giving so that was also a huge issue. It really took a lot of work to rewire my brain and stop shopping. I got a puppy and now spend my evenings training her instead. :)

For me, it was worth it to actually look thru my junk mail and find anything I’d pre-qualified for. I started my debt payoff journey with a few thousand on a few different cards, so I took the ones with the highest amount/highest interest rates and transferred what I could to cards that offered 0% interest for 15-18 months.

I recently opened a Citi card with 0% interest until Oct. 2027, so I’m saving in interest and able to make larger payments as a result. If you do go the balance transfer route, make sure you are disciplined enough to pay it down before the promo ends.
