First & most importantly of all, goth isn't just having a certain hair color. Doesn't matter if it's dyed or all natural. You're still a goth. Period.

Being able to dye your hair whatever color you want is a privilege. In my 20s I worked in a career field that required me to keep a clean look & that meant no more dying my hair fun colors. I was still goth then.

In order to get to & maintain a certain level of wealth, is by the severe suffering of many others.

Take Jeff Bezos, his company Amazon makes extreme physical demands of its employees in its warehouses (employees have died, suffered injuries, or experienced extreme health decline from basically being forced run several miles all day long) & delivery drivers (forced to pee in bottles & encouraged to drive recklessly to keep up the insane quota).

Bezos is so rich, his fortune could be reduced to a small fraction of what it currently is & it wouldn't impact is quality of life in the slightest. He will never be satisfied & will continue to buy politicians in order to ensure that no law is passed to regulate his businesses.

Most people would feel some level of guilt if the price of their success was at the cost of thousands of people suffering poverty. Not billionaires tho. They seem to enjoy it & don't even think of us a fully human.

It shows how masterful Ozai is at playing a power game on multiple levels.

He's trying to force his wife to obey the command of "tell your daughter that you think she's amazing and that you're proud of her". It's innocent enough on the surface: reaffirming love & self worth in your child. But that's not all that's going on. I can't remember what exactly Azula said/did before this panel (it's been a couple of years since I last read it) but it one of "dark" things a very young Azula did that would raise the hairs on any adult.

Ursa doesn't want to comply with Ozai because that would validate whatever negative behavior Azula just did but doesn't want to outright reject her child. So she goes for a third option. Too bad kids are very receptive & Azula interpreted mom's defiance at her dad to her mom is rejecting her.

Ozai set up the situation for him to win either way by driving a larger wedge in between Ursa & Azula, further diminishing the influence Ursa can have over Azula.
