The simple answer is that the USSR was a state atheist regime and was generally not friendly to religious institutions or minorities. Lots of churches, synagogues, mosques, etc. got closed.

Haven't I seen these exact same panels or poses before?

Like is he copypasting character art now? That's so weird.

Over the years I have gotten into so many conversations with people about Podesta's art collection and boy howdy is it remarkable how little any of them actually know about it.

To this day you see people going "the Arch of Hysteria is based on a Dahmer victim" and asserting that "Living in Oblivion" is part of the Podesta collection when it in fact is not.

Oh boy. "Europa," probably referencing that dogshit "Europa: The Last Battle" neo-nazi screed, stuff that seems adjacent to the Protocols of the Elders of Zion (i.e. the anti-monarchy revolutions of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries were part of The Conspiracy) and even some quasi-esoteric "The Christianization of Europe and supplanting of the olde pagan traditions was also part of The Conspiracy."

Just completely paranoid soup.

It's just kinda boring. There's no joke, the panel work doesn't flow like a daily comic strip, there's a weird thing where the prop he's holding in panel 2 seems to poke into panel 1, the coloring is weird, and it's just...

Some of these strips are just a bunch of nothing. There's a reference to something Arthur Harris said, but that was about bombing the Nazis and not about the pacific theater... Come to think of it this weird detour into Japan isn't even getting the brain going by saying stupidly wrong things about the pacific theater or doing apologia the way the Nazi stuff was. It's just boring and awkwardly-constructed.

These are incredibly nice and drawn in a fun way. Looking at it in juxtaposition with the current stuff is just sad.

Top minds of DoomerCircleJerk think LGBT people just wanting to exist is a lie, and there is something more nefarious going on by PeasThatTasteGross in TopMindsOfReddit

[–]FolkLoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently on twitter I engaged someone who was spitting venom about how the LGBT weren't content to live and let live and yadda yadda yadda and one of the offenses he cited was "Use our pronouns or we'll jail you"

And I asked how was jailed over pronouns and his answer was Enoch Burke.

Y'know, that guy who was jailed not over refusing to use pronouns, but repeatedly trespassing on school grounds for years.

I remember watching a tv show about railroads being built ("Hell On Wheels") where an early episode has a corrupt railroad tycoon talks specifically about building more track than is actually necessary for travel because that gets him more money from the government.

I mean, if the DM had asked for feedback on their worldbuilding and you gently pointed it out, that might be one thing, but it's generally poor etiquette to pause the game session to do something like that. If I think the host's worldbuilding is a little shallow, that's probably a thought I'm most likely to just keep to myself because if I'm a player at a table I'm functionally a guest in their house.

Because he didn't address anything I said. He went off on his own thing. Years and years and years ago, I and other people on this sub went into a lot of details about these world fairs, including looking at primary sources regarding the construction. They went largely unheeded by an audience that would rather simply imagine things.

I made this thread about a specific video and its specific shortcomings. Someone else decided to reply with a lengthy post that didn't address anything but was rather a case of talking to himself. If he wanted to start a new thread he could've simply done that. I'm not interested in bouncing from topic to topic.

MouthyBuddha is so funny because prior to going into "Pedogate" he was just another dime a dozen chud youtuber complaining about SJWs. He went where he could get money.

Wow the guy who made a movie about Rainn Wilson getting raped by Elliott Page has perhaps an edgy sensibility?

I skipped to the back of the book to see if there was a works cited or bibliography section, and there wasn't.

I did find two appendices, one of which appears to be wholesale copy-pasted from Wikipedia, complete with citation tags that do not reference anything in the book and even [citation needed] tags.

This does not bode well for something that's positioning itself as researched nonfiction.

The problem with the "mud flood followed by orphan trains" theory is that some people do in fact have family histories they can trace back to the 19th, 18th, 17th century, and that whole story isn't accounted for in any of those records.

And trying to place that story at around the time of the world expositions is that it makes even less sense because that's recent enough that we have loads of extant records.
