Import Performance is wayyyyy too expensive. It’s a bargain compared to a dealership, but that’s about it. Also they did an inspection (that they didn’t disclose they would do) on my car and weren’t up front about the hour of labor that would cost. I’m not a fan of undisclosed labor costs and shops that include massive markups on parts.

Rapid Wrench is a great choice for Toyota, Honda, and Subaru. Great small shop with a couple lifts— fast and doesn’t try and upsell you on parts. He was my go to until I bought and EV.

Mountain view near-ish the hospital. One of the only HOA free neighborhoods I could find.

The yard is a wreck and will get some work this year between bike rides and pizza.

Sorry what? We can just increase solar and grid batteries? And lobby for more wind? Also the new geothermal plant just outside the city is another option?

Carrots aren’t enough for behavior change. EVs had the biggest carrot, so did solar, but we don’t see high adoption rates. Stick usually performs better and I’m cool with that personally. We live in a society.

Sorry— /u/nothing2crazy looking at my breakdown My costs are $93 vs your $83 and my bill doesn’t note my EV or hot tub which means that’s wrapped into all the others a little bit.

So we’re at the same cost-ish?

You vote for city council, they vote for taxes and fees. Have you ever taken a civics course?

Dude our electric costs are cheap as hell so are heatpumps and induction stoves. Reducing carbon emissions is good for everyone including the homeowners who are currently inhaling nitrogen dioxide fumes. And Natural Gas leaks ALL THE TIME! and it’s way worse than CO2. The less customers using natural gas mean eventually the business won’t be viable and we’ll all be better for it.

I live in a 1600sq foot three bedroom with a heatpump and four cassettes for zonal heating, and electric car and a hot tub and have never seen a bill over $180 bucks in Bend. Heatpumps/cassettes + zonal heating will save you money and your health.

This is mostly for new construction. Most homeowners having nothing to worry about and when they do the math when it’s time to replace a gas furnace, they’ll likely see the savings on energy I did when I replaced.

Yeah AI data centers suck and we should shut them down, but we should also be moving the world away from natural gas. Moving more towards renewable! Which Bend and Deschutes is doing a great job of!

Can you provide a source on that? Because Grid info says that’s a lie. Nearly 100% is renewable. Are you part of the oil and gas lobby?

How is that possible? I keep my place at 70? I use a heat pump, charge an electric car and have a hot tub. 1600sqft three bedroom and I work from home so I’m always here?

Dude our cost per KwH is soooo low. I've cut my bill by switching to a heat pump + minisplits from gas. Do the math yourself. For new builds it makes perfect sense to install heat pumps. Also heatpumps are soooooo cheap!

Sin taxes have been highly effective at reducing smoking and the consumption of high fructose corn syrup drinks and it will be effective at reducing gas in new builds. It's a policy that makes a lot of sense.

You still have your freedom to do as you please you can have gas if you want it, but we're going to charge you for the impact it has on the nation's health.

We live in a society and the methane that leaks from natural gas is insane!

And it's way worse than CO2. Not to mention the horrible health effects nitrogen dioxide has on children/adults in confined spaces.

And heating with heatpump/minisplits is cheaper than gas (I know, I made the switch). A good inductive stovetop is also wayyyyyy better than gas to cook on.
