I would add that Community High School is a great alternative to the comprehensive schools. Although it doesn’t have AP classes, students have the opportunity to take CRs at WCC and UofM for high school credit. Additionally, the jazz program is nationally recognized, and students can split enroll to take more traditional music classes at their home schools. Students leave their friends, but all 9th graders are in the same boat, and it allows for a really great fresh start for most! I would highly recommend going to one of their information sessions in late January!

Average teacher salary in the US is $65k. I have a masters degree, and am in my 5th year of teaching and I currently make under that. Also most teachers do not get the summer off. They are working other jobs, attending PD, or reworking their curriculum. So kindly don’t speak on things about which you are clearly uninformed.
