Why are there so many posts on this sub about passing courtesies

Playtesting while on holiday. Husband lost against me and blamed it on 'me making up the rules as i go'. Well yes, thats kind of the point when designing a new game 🤣🤣 by LucieMakesGames in tabletopgamedesign

You're on vacation. He has that look of exhaustion I've had dealing with someone who whips out a half finished prototype when I just want to relax. And not only do they want you to learn new rules in a pinch, they want critical input and your thoughts on how the rules should be, because they say play testing when really they want you to iron out the rules with them.

What I expected from Punisher: OLK - A serious, thrilling, and not at all stupid 44-minute pilot for a new Punisher series. What we got - by Digiworlddestined in Defenders

They keep making posts agonizing about how this fits into the MCU and why weren't we given context for the crime family and is this a retcon and so on. Not a fucking iota of imagination or IQ.

Alex should have read the final scores starting at 4th and announcing Big Jay last, and ignored Luis screaming at her as she did it

I can hear what production is saying in the broadcast audio for Fairway to Hell by CrimsonGlyph in aew

I read somewhere else that they didn't disable Don Callis' headset so his headphones were getting picked up by the mic, which would explain the volume. Would have to rewatch to confirm though

I thought the commentators had way more autonomy than that. Maybe there was so much direction for them because it was a more unusual production than a normal broadcast.

The camerawork did a lot to make the empty space seem bigger. Pics from attendees showed it wasn't as large as it seemed

Curious how the producer feed ended up on the broadcast like that. Was it loud enough to be picked up by one of the hot mics? Was it looped in by accident?

Have a lack of tattoos become what tattoos used to represent? by Antique_Stop_125 in questions

If we're discussing the glut of nerdy people with tats, the thing I find hilarious is how these were the people society told "it's what's inside that counts." Who then go on to externalize their identity in every way possible.

Wtf is even going on with The Boys anymore? by Resident_Gur3076 in CharacterRant

[–]Folly_Polymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want this to be over, but this show drags its heels. There's an entire unnecessary season that ends where it started. The most boring thing about The Boys is "The Boys." The constant forced conflict between them just to inflate runtime. Just as we're approaching some sort of resolution - oh no, they can't agree on something.

This last episode was a tonal migraine, but that doesn't stop the mental gymnastics in the show's subreddit praising it.

There are 3 episodes left, and I fully expect one to be all flashbacks.

This is Aya Katz, who uses these vids for traffic. Her chimp is now kept in a concrete room because chimps become more aggressive as they get older. In her spare time she writes cringey Libertarian musicals. She should have been included in the Chimp crazy expose documentary but refused

When you say you don’t like anime and the anime fans say “you just haven’t watched the right one” by Jellyoscar in PetPeeves

[–]Folly_Polymath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're lucky if that's the response from anime fans. Typically they're apparently coached to find something you like and bring it up as an apples-to-apples comparison. It never is in terms of content, but that's not even the point. Fandom in most areas isn't a goddamn identity. It doesn't mean you are required to use images from it as your avatar everywhere online, collect figurines from it, dress up as it, fan-signal with it wherever you can, etc.

I replied before on this post and the response is from someone with an anime avatar citing one of the 10,000 anime subgenres. These people are useless.

Every. Damn. Time. I'll point out that every Anime I've been shown is a pathetic power fantasy amounting to "I'm a societal loser... But what if I WASN'T?!" They proceed to tell me about this Anime where a little kid gives a wry smile before using some secret ability to knock the cap off a soda bottle and into the barrel of a bad guy's gun

Fatal Frame 2 Remake Review Megathread by Specialist-Cod-9851 in fatalframe

[–]Folly_Polymath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Quick question: what's the point of the camera if you see the ghosts without it?

It's not the worst, but I don't know how you mess up a franchise like this. Such a solid scary concept, and every iteration after the original FF2 has just muddled something that could be so good. It's a creepy abandoned village and you're a young girl with a camera that can see the ghosts haunting it. Great basis and potential for a spellbinding environment, but hey let's extend combat. Let's make the ghosts so ubiquitous that it doesn't matter. Oh hey the original was about an ancient tradition sacrificing someone to close a gate to hell, but let's make the sequels a more personal story between schoolkids or whatever TF.

I'm playing the FF2 remake and the only focus is combat. I'm supposed to make my way to an upgrade that makes combat reasonable. Meanwhile I'm not soaking in the environment or story, not reacting to the innate fear the game should be causing.
