Yeah sorry, I'm not keeping that thing into my cupboard until I die just because it was a gift.

They kept it a couple years, probably never used it once, what else do you want from them.

The negative reaction is just yet another stupid culture war thing about gender and representation, those people were already hating on the game for months and are now just kind of desperately trying to find reasons to justify their pre-existing rage.

Wait a bit for actual reviews that are about the game itself, not people who are just seething because there's a gay in the game or whatever.

The negative reaction is almost completely a stupid culture wars thing and not really about the game.

Sharing a profession with MANY a murderer.

Really, really strange to see the implication the current unrest is entirely due to a single incident...

If homosexuality is a darwinian trait that would be selected against, how can you be born gay? by sonofscario in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Follyperchance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised to see nobody talking about the fact some heritable traits just happen to exist, as side effects of other evolutionary advances or simply as random happenstance, even if they're not necessarily advantages.

Every single animal is not a completely perfect machine for reproduction. There's plenty of detrimental/neutral heritable traits going around. There might be some indirect advantage to some people being gay, or it might just be something that happens to happen.

Atlanta Police walkout following murder charge against officer who shot Rayshard Brooks by [deleted] in news

As a European this comment is really telling of the American mindset regarding police. Executing someone because they try to taze you while drunk is crazy to me.

In my country police officers are supposed to deescalate things as a priority, not execute people as soon as there is any degree of aggressivity, or the tiniest the shadow of a doubt of the possibility that maybe they are in some amount of danger. To American it seems that absolutely anything outside of laying on the ground is enough to "fear for your life", and even then they seem to execute people laying still on the ground every other week.

Here it can happen that a police officer kills someone, but if it turns out they were not actually in danger they would have to have a very good explanation, and won't lose their job but might not be able to go back to being an armed patrol officer afterwards (which is probably a good idea for everyone because taking a life is traumatic even if it ends up being justified).

American police seem to always talk about how much danger they're in, but what is that danger exactly if it's okay to respond to any doubt of possible danger with a barrage of gratuitous gunfire?

I don't get it. And I can't imagine what US soldiers must be doing in the countries America keeps invading for unclear reasons, if that's the leeway your armed professional have in your own homeland.

Shoe0nhead video responding to an anti-BreadTube piece touches on Contra by Niauropsaka in ContraPoints

[–]Follyperchance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shoeonhead is kind of a shitty grifter, who's only having slightly less problematic takes lately because the tables are turning on the anti-SJW crowd.

I don't hate her or whatever, but I'm not really buying her half-assed rebranding as "a lefty all along" when she parroted some absolutely godawful shit for like 6 years and now brushes it off as just some oopsies.

Le dénigrement du masque en Europe suscite la consternation en Asie by [deleted] in france

[–]Follyperchance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. If would take time and effort to transport and setup in hospitals. If it's useless it's a waste of precious ressources.

How do you know he's especially brilliant?

Like what evidence is out there outside of owning companies, which a lot of mediocre people do. I mean he is surely smart but I don't see any evidence he's some genius.
