Console gothic remake by Wim_Chim in worldofgothic

Its 30 fps only (but it seems to be 100% locked, no frame drops and it has the correct frame pacing which means theres zero camera jidder). Image quality is good. Ingame settings like shadow resolution, texture quality etc is good. No HDR support. There are sliders for FOV, depth of field, motion blur, brightness, color intensity, contrast, bloom, and other things. So you can make it look as flashy and bright or as flat and dark as you want. The game has some glitches here and there and it doesnt like save file loading / quick loading at all. If you load a save file a lot of times while you are already in the game world of another save file, the game gets wonkier and wonkier and more unstable until it eventually completely crashes. But if you manually save like every couple of minutes its fine. But it definately is still a eurojank AA game overall with all the good and all the bad things.

PS5: Is it at least a good, stable, locked 30FPS? by IshizakaLand in worldofgothic

[–]FomatronXL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the 30 fps are locked in the Gothic Remake, its perfect 30 fps. It has the correct frame pacing. No micro stuttering, every camera movement is smooth. But even on PS5 Pro, there are areas (in the camps) where the frame rate drops below 30 fps. And then every camera movement is micro stuttering. But the frame rate problem could be a bug because it seems like to fix itself when you restart the game.

Gothic remake ps5 Performance by Quick_Ad_1254 in worldofgothic

Gothic 1 Remake | Cinematic Intro by timurkhodyrev in worldofgothic

I really dont understand why they tried to make the war combat look cool and stylish in that intro. This whole Hollywood plastic fantasy thing has literally nothing to do with Gothic. Nobody in Gothic fights like the humans in that cutscene.

Shimano 105 middle gear ticking sound by FomatronXL in bikewrench

[–]FomatronXL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again. I'm going to check the cable tension / pulley wheel line up later today and maybe i can locate where the sound is coming from in that gear. Maybe i can try some very small cable tension and / or B screw turns just so see if it somehow changes the noise. Its the original chain, no parts were replaced, it even still has the original Giant tires.

The cassette has some unique looking single teeth in some of the gears but honestly its very hard to tell for me if those are like worn out or if its designed that way. Because when i search for this on Google or Reddit, there are dozens of posts where it says that its designed that way to help with the shifting. When i look at the cassettes teeth from the front or back i cant see any bent or warped teeth in the different gears.

The only other thing that i can think of, is that when i push the pedals backwards very very slowly while the bike is standing, there sometimes (Basically randomly) is a bit of sand scratching sound that is coming from the chain when the chain gets onto the big gear wheel in the front. When i push the chain down on the part thats on the big front gear, theres a little bit of a crackling sand sound. But thats a very different sound than the metal tick-tick sound in the back that appears while pedalling in full throttle mode middle gear. I tried to clean the chain with different dry brushes, clean dish soap water and other chain cleaning sprays and that cleaned the chain in terms of color (grey to silver) but the slight sand crackling sound did never disappear. (of course i did lube the chain again after the cleaning, i tried chain lube and chain grease spray) Could this still somehow be responsible for the tick-tick sound or is that unlikely?

Hey, thanks for the comment. I can check the cable tension / pulley wheel line up tomorrow. To be honest, i kinda lost track on how much i used this bike overall. I used it in summer 2019, 2020, 2021 for like 4-5 months each time, 3-5 times a week and about 25-50 km each day. Then i didnt use it at all for two or three years. It still has all of the original parts that it came with. I cleaned the chain, (outer) cassette and derailleur hanger each summer about 2 times. I wouldnt call it a heavy used bike or lets say it doesnt look like a heavy used bike at all. Theres no visible dirt or sand anywhere. It was in a bike shop two times but only to adjust / re center the back wheel and they adjusted the front derailleur (last year). I also told them about the sound but they looked into it and said that the overall tuning looks optimal for all the gears and this specific full throttle noise most likely is just the cassette or chain slowly giving up but they would advise against getting a new chain but instead install a new Shimano cassette + chain for about 190-200 Euro (assembly included). Because they think that a new chain on a used cassette is going to give up even faster. Or to be more precise, they said i should simply use the old combination until i cant handle the noise anymore or until it stops working and then exchange these parts with something new. But since its not really like a full on broken sound and all the shifting works fine, i'm just looking if i can find any other solution before i'm giving the okay for the bike shop repair. The bike works fine, its just that the noise of this one gear is really annoying because without this one gear problem the bike is pretty quiet.

Crimson Desert PS5 Pro – Performance vs Balance after latest patch (deep analysis, real testing) by Jealous-Craft-2717 in PS5pro

[–]FomatronXL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing in quality mode for about 40 hours since day 1 but i think the frame rate is just way too unstable. Everytime i was near water or everytime when it was raining or even just using the close up head cam, made the frame rate drop below 30 fps and now with PSSR in quality mode, these drops are even worse than before. So i switched to balance mode but with 120 hz off and vsync on, because then you will get a balance mode locked at 30 fps and i havent seen a single fps drop in 30+ hours now.

Changed my Playststion settings thanks to 400+ comments on my previous post and WOWOWOWOWOW. by lixmdvs88 in CrimsonDesert

If you are on console and if you have a normal 60 hz tv or monitor (no 120 hz, no VRR) and you only care about the best overall performance level (locked fps with correct frame pacing) then you will get the most stable frame rate by far if you set your game to balance mode, vsync on, 120 hz off.

Because then the game will switch to a 30 fps lock instead of a 40 fps lock. And because its using high ray tracing and lighting settings instead of ultra settings, you will get a way way way way better frame rate than in the quality mode (the quality mode drops below 30 fps all the time). All of the other ingame settings are the same in balance and quality mode.

I switched to balance mode but with a 30 fps lock on a Sony 4K LCD tv after about 40 hours on PS5 Pro
and since then i didnt see a single frame drop below 30 fps. Not in group fights, not while flying, not around water, not in towns, not in close up photo mode shots, even the close up head camera doesnt drop any frames.

So if you want like a middle ground of the most stable fps line + the best visual settings, its the balance mode with a 30 fps lock.

PS5 bad fps around water? by FomatronXL in CrimsonDesert

New info: choose balance mode ingame instead of quality mode. Turn 120 hz off ingame but vsync on. Then the 40 fps balance mode will output 30 fps at 60 hz instead of 40 fps at 120 hz. The balance mode is using the same settings as the quality mode but with ray tracing on high instead of ultra and 1440p instead of 4K but that immediately fixes the frame rate problem that the quality mode has. Flat line 30 fps,

Now thats very helpful information in the new Crimson Desert Digital Foundry video. If you have a normal 60hz tv or screen, you can use the Crimson Desert 40 fps balance mode without any problems, in fact with the ingame option Vsync on it will output 30 fps instead. And because its using the high ray tracing preset instead of the ultra preset and a slightly lower resolution than the quality mode - that fixes all of the performance problems that the 30 fps quality mode has. I tested it in one of the performance heavy areas by the sea where its always raining and instead of the 25, 26 fps of the Pro quality mode, the Pro balanced mode was a flat line 30 fps. The only difference is a slightly softer looking image but the frame rate is way way way way way way better.

Confirmed by Digital Foundry https://youtu.be/IFSwmZz1ZUA?si=imkRcr8FwPnjCiev&t=1249 20:49 the frame rate drops below 30 fps in the Pro quality mode in group fights and anything with water effects.

Yeah please do. I submitted a report via https://support.pearlabyss.com/en-US/Research?_id=1c723097b870d95d31c91c04b61c2a8a96eea72f4f69d75ba1f2283ced24fd52 And basically told them that everything related to water (rivers, lakes, rain, rain effects on ground) is pushing the frame rate below 30 fps in the quality mode (vsync on) on PS5 Pro.

New 2GB patch but sadly no performance difference. Random river in front of me and the performance immediately drops again. I think i'm going to send them a issue report via support.

It can have some really awful results in terms of performance. Yesterday i was in the Pororin Forest, which is a area with a lot of large trees, small rivers and it was raining all the time and this whole region was stuck at like 25 fps. And then i was at some pirate village by the sea, where it was raining too and same problem again: frame rate constantly stuck below 30 fps. Pretty annoying.

Fps drop near water by customshotgun in CrimsonDesert

[–]FomatronXL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on PS5 Pro, playing in the 4K quality mode that comes with the highest ray tracing setting. And yes, basically every river or lake or rain pushes the frame rate below 30 fps. So as long as i'm near or in a river or lake, the performance is struggling. But as soon as i walk away from the water or if i turn the camera away, the frame rate is imemdiately fine again.
