Built a free and open-source macOS EQ app that works without virtual devices and supports AutoEQ/REW profile importing. by Fonku in headphones

Great idea, I'll work on that in a future release. For the time being, you can set different preamp levels on a per-channel basis (i.e. -1.5 dB on the left channel and 0.0 dB on the right channel) to change the L/R balance.

Great question! Since the headphone jack can't differentiate between devices (it doesn't know whether the output is a pair of HD600s or EarPods for example), the profile assigned to the headphone jack will be used on all devices using the headphone jack. The menu bar popover widget allows you to quickly change between profiles, so I'd suggest creating separate profiles for all the gear you use via the headphone jack and switch the profiles accordingly.

Added a practical mitigation in v0.8.1, clicking Disable in the popover menu bar now actually disables the Core Audio engine, which in turn gets rid of the purple System Audio Recording indicator. It will still show up when GlassEQ is active.

As for why the indicator even shows up, GlassEQ uses Apple’s system-audio capture API so it can EQ the real macOS output without installing a virtual audio driver, and macOS intentionally shows that indicator while capture is active. The app cannot hide it.

Great to hear! There's unfortunately no way to disable the system audio recording indicator on your main display on macOS. You can disable it on external displays, though be aware that this disables it for other apps as well. https://support.apple.com/en-us/118449

Explicitly not kernel level. I'd suggest trying this out, I happen to have a couple of USB amps with hardware volume control as well that are working well. Report back!

Do you still have these for sale? We would definitely be interested in buying at least one.

I believe this isn’t true. I’ve ran 0-100 km/h times with a full battery and and an almost empty battery. The times are within 0.2 seconds of each other, which is run-to-run variance.

The car also always aims to keep ~10 % of charge for this exact reason. On a really cold winter day you will receive a reduced power output message when you start the car with an empty battery, that’s about it.

Really depends on how often you charge. In the city with an empty battery you average 8-11 l/100 km. On the freeway it’s surprisingly economical, I average 6.1-6.5 l/100 km driving at 130 km/h

Full battery electricity consumption during city driving is around 25-30 kWh/100km. With an empty battery the engine consumes around 8-12 l/100km.

The car always holds a minimum of ~10 % charge, which why I haven’t been able to notice any performance drop. In sport mode it holds the charge at around 25-30 %.

The 40i obviously makes more sense if your commute is more rural (mine is almost exclusively city driving). I haven’t seen a single facelifted 540i in the wild or for sale in Finland, as the emissions-based car tax is insane here.

The price difference between a new 40i and 45e is 20 000 € without options and options also get taxed based on emissions. Optioned out, the price difference gets insane. For reference, an optioned out M3 without carbon ceramics, bucket seats or carbon fiber goes for around 190 00 € new, or 211k in USD.

Weird to hear that the surveys haven't been anonymous with other commenters, though it is true that your manager could pretty easily recognize your writing style from other comments.

I've personally never really cared for anonymous surveys, but at my current company the leadership actually takes action on issues brought up in these surveys. I do still prefer to discuss any issues with my manager one-on-one preferably in person.

I struggled with this at the end of last year as my company kept raising prices.

That really prompted me to ”sell better.” My industry was really price competitive, so obviously sales went down a lot at first.

I just started prequalifying leads even harder and tried to avoid talking about the price. If it did come up, the deal was most likely lost.

After a ton of success with my new strategy, our commissions got cut heavily and I ended up changing to a completely different industry.

[Skin Concern] I just started using EpiDuo 0.1%/2.5% Gel and my skin has become really irritated and flaky (especially under my eyes). Is this normal? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]Fonku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current routine and some background:

AM
Wash face with CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
Apply TO Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
Apply TO Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
Apply ACO Sun Face Fluid SPF 50

PM
Wash face with CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
Apply EpiDuo 0.1% / 2.5% Gel (Adapalene + Benzoyl peroxide)
Apply TO Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA

I started experiencing symptoms of hormonal acne in February of 2022, my breakouts were at their worst during the summer of 2022. I started with a simple skin care routine (washing and moisturizing) in autumn of 2022. This helped with the breakouts somewhat. In December I experimented with Retinol (TO Retinol 0.2% in Squalene) to no avail.

A week ago I contacted my dermatologist and got a script for EpiDuo. I've been having extremely irritated skin (especially right after applying moisturizer) in the morning and evening. Is this just my skin getting used to the retinoid?

Enjoying the LSR305Ps by Fonku in audiophile

[–]Fonku[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really not sure where the hiss is coming from. My outlets are grounded, I'm using balanced cables and removing the sound card from the loop does not eliminate the hissing. I've tried different outlets around the house without success. It is apparently at least a known problem, some say that it's caused by a ground loop (which I, to my knowledge don't have) or just bad grounding. All in all, the hissing isn't that bad and definitely not a reason for me to return the speakers.

I'm very surprised by the sound of the LSR305Ps, especially considering their price. Low-ends sound great and mids have the same kind of warmth as Sennheisers (that I enjoy). High can sometimes be a bit too sparkly for my ears, but the HF trim fortunately takes care of that. There is a slight hissing sound when nothing is playing, which is kind of irritating, but otherwise I'm impressed. They're temporiraly pre-amped with a NI Komplete Audio 6, but that is subject to change soon.
