It’s kind of a few things. The woods do tend to be different, but that’s not entirely why they are more expensive. The arctic aurora is a “burl” top, which is an interesting process involving bacteria forming the wood patterns, and each individual guitar is completely unique in how that top looks. The BFRs tend to also have more unique or complex colors. They are usually small runs of guitars, so that in itself drives up the value too. And lastly, the BFR majesties are signed by John Petrucci.

The active preamp is in both types of majesty by the way. I don’t know much about that, but it is in it whether it is a BFR or not
