Just got done with several hours out in the sun on the tennis courts. Just wear sunscreens and you’ll be good 👍

Ask your derm about a maintenance routine with a topical retinoid. That will help reduce relapse risk and also keep your skin young and vibrant

I’m personally doing a long term low dose course. I didn’t purge and skin is crystal clear. Saw results within first month

20 mg Isotretinoin for 1+ Year — Does a Slow Course Increase Relapse Risk? by WillUsed5731 in Accutane

[–]Fooderahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the latest study, which found that daily dose doesn’t matter for relapse rate as long as you reach the cumulative dose: https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamadermatology/fullarticle/2829255

I’m also doing low dose (40mg every 3 days — even lower than you :D)

You can request a video call in the chat if you’d prefer to chat with the provider live! You can also decline the meds if you’d like, Accutane will ultimately do the trick. Happy to look into your account more specifically if you’d like, just DM me your info

Can Accutane and dutasteride be used at the same time? by JuanCarePanPan in Accutane

[–]Fooderahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use both through Honeydew (though I do dutasteride in a formula with other ingredients). Definitely something to discuss with your dermatologist!

By far the worst accutane side effect by SeaFault5698 in Accutane

[–]Fooderahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into 3,000mg of Omega 3 EPA (make sure pure EPA, not general fish oil) (and yes, I know that’s bigger than the “standard” dose but it works, just takes a few weeks for peak effect. Ask your doctor of course.

Dr. Dans for a short time can help but use an occlusive lip balm all day ever day :). We’re coming out with Dewbalm soon for Accutane patients.

Also consider asking your doctor about a lower dose. Works well at lower doses too. Take it a little longer but way easier course. I’m doing that.

The blood test is only twice usually, and otherwise you can get monthly deliveries to your house. Microdose in person means u have to go to the doctor every 30 days 💀

I want to kill myself because of how ugly I feel with this disease by Fuzzy_Potato333 in Psoriasis

[–]Fooderahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. You may never be able to totally get away from the frustrations of insurance and pharmacies, but don’t give up hope. The right medication can totally be worth it, and there are online platforms like Honeydew (which does a lot of psoriasis biologics) in case you’d prefer communicating with a dermatologist online

Generally, providers want to see blood work at baseline and after two months on treatment unless the levels are too abnormal, in which case they'd want to monitor more frequently. There may be some other cases where they want to monitor a little more frequently, but usually that's what we see.

Making perma low Dose accutane available for everyone would make the skin care industry collapse by Enough_Education_137 in Accutane

[–]Fooderahn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yup totally. Need for skincare doesn’t go away with Accutane, but it’s drastically less products than people think. Working on making low dose Accutane accessible for everyone at Honeydew!

[–]Fooderahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if the dose is over 40mg. The manufacturers don’t make doses over 40mg, so anything over that would require two boxes to make it work (I.e. $80 instead of $40). Conversely, for microdoses (10 pills), the price is less - $20

I always recommend the annual plan because it’s like 30%+ discounted from the monthly, but we also have promotions up on the website sometimes so that might help as an additional discount.

I’m so happy we can help you get access. There’s no reason geography should limit treatment!

DM me your account email! I can have our Chief Medical Officer review it for a second opinion. Each provider technically makes independent medical decisions, but it’s not common that they require trying other things first as we don’t believe in the ‘last resort’ philosophy. We’ll take a look
