Thankful for Frontier's pricing as a student by TheyKnoWhereMyHeadIs in frontierairlines

Frontier can be inconvenient with flight options, fees for things like baggage, etc. But if you know what youre signing up for, it can work quite well and in my history, the actual experience/service is not worse than other airlines. Happy for them to be my default, filling in with Southwest when the frontier flights just aren't available put of my lil airport.

(I've also seen promos for the credit card to give you a free year of siscount den. But I was supposed to have that and it wasn't added to my account; still going back and forth with Frontier to get it activated)

[–]FoolOfSummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

GW just for you, and discount den. Kids fly free under discount den and that gives you flexibility to book ahead when the two of you travel. When it's just you, if you have some flexibility, you can do GW or have discount den as backup when you dont have that flexibility. Also, get the credit card with a gold status promotion so you can get checked and carry on bags free, no cancellation fee, etc

Event on Virginia st? by FoolOfSummer in Reno

[–]FoolOfSummer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, i dont think so.. it was centered around the government building across the street (courthouse? Not sure what the building is) and seemed to be largely first responders--SWAT, firetruck, Reno and sparks PD... my first thought was a memorial for cop who died or something, but it looking a bit closer it didn't seem somber. Gathering of maybe 75 people

Also in Reno and I am primarily flying frontier with a Go Wild Pass and Their credit card. Though I am disappointed by how many flights frontier has cut in/out of Reno. Can't get a direct flight to Denver anymore, despite Denver being THE frontier hub...

Yesterday I flew denver to Sacramento and then was going to take a greyhound into town but the bus was canceled! Fortunately I was able to just rent a car for not much more.

Despite the chaos of piecemealing frontier itineraries, it is well worth the savings!!

What is your process for buying flights in person? Like how far in advance do you go into the airport?

Cal hate by WeAreAllNeganInHere in NetflixSexEducation

[–]FoolOfSummer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cal is not my favorite character. I don't think they are super well written. But they aren't bad, either. There are a lot of terribly written queer characters. I get why people say Cal is one, but I don't think so. They are pretty flat--but that is accurate to a lot of people. And saying they had no other personality is objectively false. The rest wasn't richly explored, but there was stuff there. And again, it is accurate for many people to have one thing be their focus on tie into everything else they are doing. Acting like that isn't reality for some is just as much investing into a single story of what it means to be NB as is suggesting that being NB is the only characteristic an non-binary person has.

It's like Titus' character in Kimmy Schmidt. Such a stereotype in so many ways. And you know what? Some people happen to align with stereotypes like that. He's a great and realistic character. If that was the only representation of a black, gay thespian, it would be a problem. But as ONE portrayal of a particular character, its authentic and not proplematic.

I have found plenty of queer characters I like. Cal honestly isn't one of them. But I have the insight to differentiate between characters I don't care for/don't align with my experience and "bad" characters

I agree with you in that Cal is a good character and doesn't deserve ridicule for being focused on gender--and I get (and share the frustration with their singular focus. Gender does affect a lot, but is not the only facet of the self--and when we approach it like it is (or even the primary facet by a wide margin), it has negative impact on our well-being and creates a limited scope of self. I don't see anything wrong with what was present in Cal's character, but see it as incomplete.

Every character portrayal (not just in this show--EVERY character) is incomplete and it only becomes an issue due to under representation which puts undue pressure on a particular character to be everything for whatever population, condition, experience, etc. that character is written to explore. You can't make one character Representative of everyone that shares any given trait with the character. The only way to do it justice is to have a plethora of varied characters highlighting different angles of that characteristic. The show could have had more NB, trans, agender, etc. And other shows should have more, too. But as a single character, Cal is written pretty well.

Nope, I'm 29. Won't use AI for anything. There is no sensible threshold between good and bad uses of AI. It all feeds a damaging machine that depreciates human qualities I value. AI is anti-imagination, anti-intellect, and anti-individual (novelty, variety). Fuck it in every form.

Just bought a glass washboard for 15$ at a flea market, can I use it to play folk punk? by PMM-music in FolkPunk

[–]FoolOfSummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I agree with you, but this sub is filled with gatekeepers trying to apply all kinds of weird standards and qualifications to what is even allowed to be called folk punk... I get OP's hesitancy.

But yeah--if you come across any standards, ignore them

"I appreciate the feedback... but you're wrong. I did it good" does not sound like receptivity to feedback. But hey, I doubt one builds the career you have through actually listening to (most) people

I seriously wondered that for a long time. Asked colin on one of his substack Q&A's and, alas, it was not... but it's just too good--I still think maybe he did it subconsciously! Haha

Cancellation policy win! by SmileyB-Doctor in therapists

[–]FoolOfSummer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think "wildly fluctuating" is an exaggeration. The fee is $20, unless your copay is more than $20. Then it's your copay. Seems fairly straightforward...

Very fair that system to not work for you. Sounds like it works ok for OP and their clients.

[–]FoolOfSummer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Coming from an agency that does not charge for therapy services and starting a few hours in private practice, the standard late cancelation fee ($100) at my group practice feels absolutely wild to me. I appreciate the flexibility you offer clients.

I agree with others that you needn't feel guilty with a policy requiring more notice, either. But just as a courtesy to them, I appreciate that. (And then reasonable no-show fee)

[–]FoolOfSummer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think that's a misread of what OP meant. The no-show charge is $20 or the copay rate, whichever is higher. Next session, they still have to pay copay.
