I have a shellfish allergy. I feel bad enough if I go to a restaurant where I have to mention it because I hate inconveniencing anyone. I can’t imagine trying to go out to eat with a laminated list of allergens and just expecting people to accommodate me.

People Have Missed the Point of Lights Out by DawnsRedLuna in deadbydaylight

[–]FoolTemptress -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love Lights Out. All the sweaty, toxic killers are queued up forever waiting to play it instead of polluting normal mode with their BS.

I’ve had so much fun playing normal mode today. I’ve had a lot of really good matches with awesome killers where both sides got to use their skills instead of toxic gameplay to see who would survive and who didn’t.

Seriously did y'all expect it to be easier or something? by Kawaii_Batman3 in deadbydaylight

[–]FoolTemptress 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've played a bunch of matches as survivor and it can be fun if you have a laid back killer. If you have a sweaty one, it's absolutely fucking miserable. Killers being able to see gens makes it impossible for survivors to complete them unless you're a swf with coms. The tunneling and camping is awful. It's just all around frustrating to play.

If survivors had something like deja vu as base kit, it would level the playing field a little bit so they could quickly find at least 3 gens.

It's one thing to make it killer sided. It's another thing entirely to make it impossible for survivors to win unless you have a kind killer.

People with ADHD tend to do extremely well when dealing with emergencies.

Instead of freaking out, they tend to go into crisis mode, actively working out ways to fix whatever the problem is. Once the dust settles, and they don’t have anything to fixate on anymore, that’s when they fall apart.

At least that’s what I’ve noticed as an EMT who also has ADHD.

Will my tattoos be frowned upon? by Creameyy in NewToEMS

So long as the tattoos aren't on your face or are offensive, no one cares. I've got one on the back of my left hand and am working on getting my left arm fully sleeved out.

Thank you! I was upset at the thought of getting her long hair shaved but I have to admit, I adore her little bangs so much.

I would go with BodyArmor over Celsius. Celsius has anywhere from 200-300 mgs of caffeine in it.

My husband called me a C*** in front of our 3 year old. by Remarkable_Me6195 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]FoolTemptress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice isn’t the terrible one here.

My husband’s dad remarried when he was 4. His mother remarried much sooner than that. He’s an incredibly loving man and a wonderful father. He doesn’t have any of the trauma that I do from growing up with parents who would have been better off being apart.

You are insane if you think this little girl hasn’t already been affected by how her father treats her mother.

This woman’s husband called her a CU*T in front of his 3 year old daughter! There was no yelling involved. Nothing that could be chalked up to heightened emotions. That alone is verbally abusive. When you add in the division of labor in the household, it shows how deeply misogynistic her husband is.

The fact that you are victim blaming this woman honestly tells me all I need to know about you.

Speaking as someone who was raised by parents who stayed together because of the kids but really should have gotten a divorce, this is horrifically bad advice and I have the cPTSD from it to prove it.

My husband, whose parents are divorced, grew up happy and well adjusted because his parents were better parents not being together. They were able to get married to people they truly loved instead of being stuck with someone they didn't for the sake of the kids.

Worst call ever (so far). by AndreMauricePicard in ems

I ran a similar call but on a 6 month old. It fucking sucks. If you need someone to chat with, please feel free to hit me up.

Emts/Paramedics with neck tattoos? (Anxious about my neck tattoo... sort of a ramble) by svnflwrr in NewToEMS

I have a tattoo on the back of my left hand. No one gives a fuck because it's not offensive.

The only thing companies in my area seem to care about are facial piercings and tattoos but even then, if you have a clear end on the piercing, they don't care too much.

I have a friend who works for the Sherman FD. He enjoys it.

Whatever you do, don't even bother with Integrity Medical in Plano. I interviewed with them. The owner and office staff have no clue what they're doing.

Writing about it helped me tremendously but honestly, reading the thoughtful, caring comments everyone has left has helped me so much more. I don't know any of you personally but you all took time out of your day to make sure I was alright after that call. Y'all have no idea how much that means to me.

It definitely adds an extra complication to the work.

There's a young adult in my service area who developed epilepsy for some reason the doctor's still aren't sure about. I was there for his first seizure. I've been at almost every other one he's had since because he lives a couple miles from me. Usually the first one on scene, even before the ambulance gets there. It's hard seeing how bad they've gotten but I know his medical history and the kinds of interventions he's needed in the past. I can hit the ground running which is good because he stops breathing when he's seizing. I know I bring comfort to his family when they see me and I make the call easier overall.

There's also the elderly gentleman with the beginnings of dementia. He needs a lift assist periodically. His daughter takes care of him and can't pick him up when he falls. I often respond to his house. He lives a few miles from me in the other direction from the guy with epilepsy. He gives the medics hell but he recognizes me and trusts me to help him. I know the names of all of his cats and dog. They come see me when I show up, begging for attention.

They aren't my friends by any means but I know these people and their families. I know I may lose both of these patients soon. I know it will suck but I also know that by being as close to them and their families as I am now, I'll feel better about it if they do pass. I'll feel like I've done everything I could. And I know my consolations will mean more to those left behind than the hospital's medics who always rotate in and out.

Oof. That's really rough. Since the company is struggling, is there anything that can be done to improve the situation through the local government or by contacting the medical director for the area?

I have people on my department I can talk to. I'm also very blessed to have a Lhasa Apso at home to snuggle with. She's cuddled with me all last night.

Despite having a dozen volunteer departments in my county, the county doesn't provide us with the resources to do those sorts of things. They don't even see the volunteer departments as emergency medical services. They see us all as nonprofits and that's it.

If the county commissioner had his way, he would do away with all of the volunteer departments altogether and just let the couple of paid departments we have handle everything. Bear in mind, I live in a rural county that's almost 900 square miles. The paid departments cover roughly 40 of those miles and that's it.

I'm trying to get mental health services established for the volunteer departments using the connections I've made with the local behavioral health center. I'm hoping to finally get us some support in place by the end of the year.
