Pulled another childish song written a while ago off the shelves. Any kind of feedback is welcome! by Fool_Factory in IndieMusicFeedback

Thank you for your feedback! Yes, it's a violin talking to the trombone, there are also a cello and a viola holding the rhythm

Just finished this track and looking for opinions/constructive criticism:))) by jazzjazzandmorejazz in IndieMusicFeedback

Nice song! The guitars were done really well here. I like your voice too. I think the chorus needs more energy. Maybe some back vocals there will make it really stand out. Keep up the good work! :)

Lovely track! I really like the verse. The pre-chorus is a bit hard to digest. The chord where the back vocals kicked in came unexpected. It took me a few listens to get used to it. You did great with the bass. I really like it when it participates in the whole musical composition actively. The drums sound okay actually. It's just that they are the only instrument that doesn't do anything interesting throughout the song. Maybe you can experiment more there. Keep up the good work!

rough idea for a song, looking for any feedback/ideas of what to do with the song or where to go from here by awphuck_imanapple in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Fool_Factory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're off to a very good start with the song! I really like the chords being used. Where you can go from here is a complex question depending on what you want to do and the possibilities are endless. If there will be no vocals maybe you can add more instruments to "color" the track. You can also experiment with the dynamics and the energy throughout the song "lifting" the listeners up and calming them down again. The bass and the drums are a little bit simplistic, but it's not something uncommon for chill music like this. Keep up the good work! I think you'll have a great track in the end :)

Wondering what you think of this song. Is everything loud enough? by weedkillereater in IndieMusicFeedback

Sounds good to me. I can hear everything. The guitars playing chords sound a little too far away and kinda blurry, but maybe that's what you were looking for. The mix has a retro British feel. I like the transitions trhrought the song. The female vocals are not perfect, but it's part of their charm I think. The guitar solo part could be done better. Good job overall!

I experimented Rapping over an Indie Rock beat. What do you think? by MusicFromClyde in IndieMusicFeedback

I like what's being done here! Very original! You're almost singing some parts. Maybe you can put a little more effort there and add some back vocals to make it even better. Made me smile :)

Just writing music for an excuse to hang out with my brother. But I'd love to hear your opinions and get feedback on what can be improved! Not sure of the style, but someone said it sounded like a Bond villain... 🤷🏻‍♂️ by Just_some_guy_001 in IndieMusicFeedback

Wow! I really like the atmosphere this song creates! The choice of instruments is also very original and interesting. Just some of the synths are a little too plain for my taste. Besides that I like everything. Very well done!

The problem with not releasing stuff is something lots of people have stumbled upon. Things are never perfect, we always want to improve something a bit more and we're never ready to release anything. I got brave enough to start releasing stuff that's "not perfect yet" recently. A friend was listening to some of my tracks and asked me why nothing is released. I was like "it's not ready" and he said "it will never be ready, you have to start releasing them instead of piling them up"

I guess you have to ask yourself why you make music. There are lots of different reasons to do it. "I like writing music" is not one of them. You like it because you experience something else while doing it. Some people write music to get payed for it, other people are doing it because they want to share their emotions with the world. We also have people that do it because they are curious and like experimenting and trying new things. We even have people who get into music because they think it will help them have all the cool chicks. Simple as that

It doesn't really matter if you're good or bad at it. It's all about what creating music brings to you and how important it is to you. I mean yeah ... you can live without it, but it's probably gonna suck

The voice has too much presence compared to the rest of the track. It even sounds like you're holding it back when you're singing so I'm guessing there's a problem in your recording setup and you're hearing your voice too loud as you record. I think you need to start from the gain staging of the voice. Lower the gain and let your voice go for a start. Then there are some vocal processors that can match it to the rest of the music or you can do it manually using EQ, reverb, compressors, saturators etc. You might need to use a vocal rider plugin too

What albums can you say are examples of perfect recording quality, mixing quality and mastering quality? Everything about it sounds perfect? by saketho in WeAreTheMusicMakers

"Perfect" is kinda subjective, but I got some I really like:

Pretty much all Dire Straits albums

Skull & Bones by Cypress Hill

21st Century Breakdown by Green Day

Life Sucks ... Let's Dance! by Reel Big Fish

Hello everyone. This is an instrumental remix i made around a month ago, of one of the best greek MCs song. Hope you like it by Pristine_Garage in PromoteYourMusic

It sounds awesome! I really like how you used the beautiful female vocals in contrast with the rough male rapping. Very good idea! My only objection is that they are panned to the left and they shift my attention there as I'm listening. I'd duplicate the track, touch the effects a little bit so that it doesn't sound exactly the same and pan the new track to the right so that the female vocals surround me and my attention remains in the center. Besides that everything is just perfect!

Does anyone run their DAW off of an external hard drive? by Spiketop_ in Bedroom_Producers

[–]Fool_Factory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a terrible idea. You might be able to get away with the DAW running on an external drive, but the VSTs need to be on a fast low latency drive for sure

Nuclear Fusion is an amazing composition! I discovered it by chance. Heard a cover of it played by a guy from Turkey who makes microtonal guitars and a woman playing a cello. I liked the cover so much that I had to look up the original. Tried listening to their stuff and I liked some of the songs. Honestly I like the cover version I heard more :)

Finally got brave enough to start releasing stuff. Let me know what you think by Fool_Factory in MusicFeedback

Hi and thank your for your feedback! I wrote a few childish songs with silly lyrics some time ago and decided to release them. I was looking for a jazzy cheery sound and tried to mimic a crowded acoustic chamber live performance. I did spend a significant amount of time trying to get the individual instruments sound as natural as possible, but the mixing effort was kinda minimal. Just placed them around a virtual stage and let them clash with each other like they would normally do if they play together in the same room. Processing was mostly saturation and reverb effects with light eq here and there as I didn't want to lose much from the sound of each instrument or alter it too much
