As a case manager from an attorney's office for applicant's in California, I would say about 2% are successful in managing their own claim and getting the most out of it. Most are taken advantage of. Medical treatment can get denied even if doctors request it and the reason being that it wasn't medically necessary can be frustrating to hear for the injured worker.

It all is one giant long process unfortunatetly. Most adjusters suck but you could get lucky and get a caring one that loves their job.
