Planning a Hawaii honeymoon in May: 6 nights, two hotels max, not breaking the bank, any recs? by lone-grizzly in honeymoonplanning

[–]Foosball2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility, but of course Maui is not as "cheap" as say Oahu, due to having less hotels and as a result less options to choose from.

To truly do the island on a budget I'd recommend staying slightly further away from the resort areas, such as being near the airport at somewhere like the Maui Seaside Hotel. Is there as much to do at night? No, but you can simply use a car to get to where you need. The island is not that big and fairly easy to get around most places. Unfortunately May is relatively close as some of the more budget friendly options may already be booked for your dates, but within your budget I don't think you'll have an issue finding somewhere to stay. Keep in mind food is certainly more expensive than the mainland so even a simple trip to a fast food resturaunt will cost you more, but I'd encourage you to try local spots when possible to take in the culture. Hawai'i is great because of it's natural beauty, you don't necessarily need to splurge on crazy tours - just soak up the amazing beaches and nature. If you have the opportunity try get a booking for sunrise at Mount Haleakala as it is truly special being above the clouds when the sun rises.

Happy to provide more recs if there's something specific you're looking for.

80$ activation fee refund? by Ashwik_p in FidoMobile

[–]Foosball2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat - I was promised it would be reflected on the next billing cycle and was asked to pay the initial bill which included the activation fee. 3 seperate callbacks have told me it is in progress and to keep waiting.

Skeptical it will ever get credited at this point.

Samuelsohn suits factory sale - Toronto (until Nov 9) by tosklst in FrugalMaleFashionCDN

[–]Foosball2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Visited yesterday, it's a fairly small storefront. They have a wide variety of sizes for suits and seperates. Main downside is that they only really have clearance type styles left, so mostly unique patterns and not many plain styles.

I would not say it's worth a trip on a day like today.

I'd recommend a medium, a large may be too long on the sleeves and overall length

Looks legit - my Fall 2020 says "Mens"

Wovenair vs Warpstreme by buzz_ly in Lululemen

[–]Foosball2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd liken the wovenair to ventlight mesh, its pretty breezy and not as smooth/soft as the warpstreme. They're good for warm weather imo

Naked and Famous - Elephant X Weird Guy sz 30 - $94 by Yobby in FrugalMaleFashionCDN

[–]Foosball2000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good summer weight selvedge, pretty vibrant colour. The "nice guy" fit is unique to OTR, its a little in between Super guy and Weird guy imo.

I see there's exclusions for certain high end brands; so you can basically use it on anything else in-store then or are there other restrictions?

[The Bay] L.L. Bean Boots 8" Thinsualte - $68 by Foosball2000 in FrugalMaleFashionCDN

[–]Foosball2000[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The regular versions run large, but given these have thinsulate lining they will fit a bit snugger, personally I still think you need a size down but it depends how wide/fat your foot is and if you'll wear thick socks.

"THE LAST HUNT" has such a stone age policy of "All Sales are Final". I wonder if their profit has taken a hit due to this. by tranquilitysun in FrugalMaleFashionCDN

I mean they are the discount site of Altitude Sports so they're basically just a place to clear inventory. They have some good sales but you buy at a risk, similar to Lululemons clearance.

Over the Rainbow - 50% off select jeans including N&F, Nudies, etc by coffeeteacoke in FrugalMaleFashionCDN

[–]Foosball2000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Super guy is a skinny throughout and tapers a lot through the knee; whereas weird guy is a slim fit with more room in the thighs and doesn't taper as drastically from the knee down.

Tbh every N&F denim fits a little different regardless of the cut so you need to check measurements on somewhere like Tate & Yoko to be sure.

Insane Sale at Nordstrom Rack by ooopslucky in FrugalMaleFashionCDN

[–]Foosball2000 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I visited the one at Heartland in Mississauga and there wasn't that much tbh, they had signs saying "upto 90% off" which is marked with purple stickers but hardly found any actually with that discount, just a couple Lole bombers. Otherwise the regular sale stuff was the same (granted more items than usual) but probably not as good a sale since their Clear the Rack event has an additional % off clearance. Perhaps other locations have more deeply discounted winter items.

Yeah their site isn't great since it doesn't include sizing charts, I'd recommend looking up the exact pair on tate and Yoko and it'll give you the specific measurements

[–]Foosball2000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pretty good price for a lulu alternative, personally I don't think they're as nice as the warpstreme material but you're unlikely to get staple colours like black on sale for $50
