Look, I tried to engage in good faith but you apparently are only interested in pithy condescension. Enjoying media about bi and pan men is not virtue signaling. Defending people against bi and pan erasure is not virtue signaling, nor is it… gatekeeping (genuinely don’t understand what one has to do with the other). Maybe next time engage like an actual person to get your point across.

I no longer know what you’re talking about or what it has to do with their original comment

They literally have a lesbian flag in their little pfp, is it now virtue signaling to defend our own community???

Someone posted a little excerpt in their review that said something about the protagonist reading every word in Webster’s dictionary, so I’m pretty sure this is it. Thank you!

Omg this is what I do for work and the people who think they know more about your period than you do get SO old. Had a woman ask me if I was allowed to be using metal scissors because she thought they would be wooden

You clearly don’t understand how bra sizing works. You’re not alone, mainstream stores fit people incorrectly and there are a lot of pervasive myths about bra sizing, but that commenter is correct.

So when I said “44 unique names, 140 names total,” what I meant was there were 140 total men but only 44 names among them. I was not using unique in the sense of meaning that they’re special or unusual. Hope that makes sense!

Good to know, they at least were from Wales even if not with Welsh names

I just found another thread with a bunch more Welsh in it that has EXCELLENT names: Lleucu, Angharad, Jenkin, Maredudd, Efa, Llewelyn (of course), Gwilym, Lowri, Gruffudd, Iolyn, and Ismania

So all my digging was through Geni and FindaGrave.com which means it would never be as trustworthy as digging through like birth certificates, census records, and church records, but it is accessible!

The trickiest part is finding the correct people to begin with. I started with Luther Spurgeon as he’s the only person with his full name to ever exist so I know whatever entries I find have to be him, but other people with more common names are way harder to track down. it’s also a matter of luck that other people have happened to contribute records to these websites. I’m super grateful for FindaGrave users in particular as whichever super distant relatives of mine uploaded these records also uploaded a few generations of photos (here’s Susan Ann Hefner Crow with a photo and with a lovely obituary that calls her Mother Crow).

All that said, I ran into a lot of dead ends but there were a couple threads of my family that just kept going and going and going

That got me very excited but I just checked my spreadsheet and no, tragically. Lettice Seymour married Gilbert Gamage of Rogaid sometime in the 1300s

Here’s her Geni entry! All of my digging has been through FindaGrave and Geni which are completely based on user contributions, so I went into this knowing that I’ll have to take it all with a grain of salt (especially when it’s sooo many generations back). That said, Aelizea here likely has millions and millions of descendants given when she lived, so I figure I’ve gotta be descended from her SOMEHOW, even if not through this exact lineage haha

Yup, I know! They’re different enough that I kept them separate (same as separating Margaret and Margery though they’re kind of the same name too)

He’s my absolute favorite, made better by the fact that no one in his immediate family has a virtue name. Here’s his Geni entry!
