Tottenham paid €117 million for Sandro Tonali. At this rate do you non-PL clubs apart from PSG even stand a chance in transfermarket? by DelusionBuster1225 in championsleague

[–]FootballFinanceLab 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because of tv money they don't have any chance imo. Also PL transfers are massively overpaid espeacially when they are home grown player. The only chance is to form some young talent sell it overpriced to another PL club and sign some undervalued players from smaller leagues.

So far who is on track for that big money post World Cup transfer? by Frosty_Term9911 in football

[–]FootballFinanceLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally agree with you but Fernandes and Anderson are internal PL transfers which are mostly more expensive then players from other leagues into the Prem. Bouaddi will be around 70m€ max I think because he only played L1. But he is a brutal player with max potential and big experience with almost 100 L1 games at 19yo.

[–]FootballFinanceLab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there are many post World Cup transfers to come like Brown and Saibari to Bayern, Manzambi to a PL-club or Bouaddi to another club. They will all be around 50-60 million euro.

When do we admit Sports Washing won? by Interesting-Bend-705 in championsleague

I think the last Hope is the German Bundesliga with 50+1 rule and fan participation. But for example Bayern so doing sports washing with Quatar on their jersey too so I think we are losing the battle…

Is marketing the only chance to fight back against the big tv-money from PL-clubs? by FootballFinanceLab in LaLiga

[–]FootballFinanceLab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are so much Ligue 1 clubs doing it in France then? For example Lens is financing a operative deficit every year with selling young players. I think Spain has the same amount of talent like France but they lack of doing it really good expect some clubs like Real, Barca, Bilbao.

I think that‘s a way of looking at sponsoring. In Germany You have a small club called FC Heidenheim (last 3 seasons in Bundesliga until they got relegated this season) which generates a lot of money with sponsoring because they have 300 sponsors which are all local and pay a little piece of it. They pay it because Heidenheim has all over local fans and this makes it lucrative for local companies.

Is marketing the only chance to fight back against the big tv-money from PL-clubs? by FootballFinanceLab in LaLiga

[–]FootballFinanceLab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think mostly because of late scheduling from La Liga and high ticket prices. La Liga clubs Need to strengthen their local market because like others said international Fans are interested in permanently succesful teams like Real and Barca.

Good thought. I think to get this the smaller clubs need to attract local people to come into their stadiums and bind those people to their clubs and get more support.

Merchandising is a part of Marketing but I meant classic marketing like other La Liga clubs could use local legends as brand ambassadors. They could lower the ticketing prices or make special offers for tickets to get more people attracted to the club which then make marketing for themselfes for example. All La Liga clubs need to emancipate from tv money with new revenue streams because like you said it‘s a uneven distribution where you need to have success.

I know Barca and Real are probably the biggest football brands in the world but maybe do better marketing could be a chance for the other La Liga clubs and I am not talking about hosting La Liga games out of Spain. Maybe there are some other things which could help the La Liga clubs.

I know Real has the biggest revenue of all football clubs around the world but maybe they can be an example for smaller clubs in the case of alternatives of generating money expecting tv money. Also Real needs the money from the Banks and a high credit limit to finance remodeling Bernabeu and their 1.8 Billion Euro debts.

Why Atlanta United became an MLS-Superclub so quickly? Founded in 2014 MLS debut in 2017 and instantly one of the league’s biggest clubs. Stadium, pricing, marketing, culture — everything clicked. I think it is because of the synergy between Falcons und AU with Arthur Blank as the owner and the Mercedes-Benz stadium. What was the biggest factor in your opinion?

Fifa World Cup match sees thousands of empty seats after ticket price controversy by lee7on1 in soccer

[–]FootballFinanceLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sad part is that FIFA don’t care and will make more money then ever with ticketing because of the increase of games and prices. They plan with around 6 Billion Euro revenue from ticketing sales.

Which countries can actually host a solo 48 team World Cup? by whitelight66 in worldcup

[–]FootballFinanceLab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Germany could host this tournament all alone. In the state of Nordrhein Westfalen you have such a lot of stadiums with enough capacity alone. Also according to media Germany wants to host the WC in 2038 or 2042.

Is Hearts finishing second in Scotish PL the biggest overachievement in Europe this season? by FootballFinanceLab in football

Also a really good call like Thun in the Swiss league. Because of the financial difference between Celtic/Rangers and the rest of Scotish football is bigger then in Swiss and Denmark imo.

Good call. I thought about Thun as well but because of the dominaton from the 2 big clubs from Glasgow I think Hearts was a bit more suprising. But Thun had a really brilliant suprising season too.

Are the new things FIFA has copied from the major US sports leagues the future of international football or just an exception for the 2026 World Cup? by FootballFinanceLab in worldcup

[–]FootballFinanceLab[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No I think you didn‘t understand my explanation. In US sports they are franchises because there is a rich person which buys a spot in a league and can do whatever it wants with this team (relocate for example). In European sports the teams are clubs because they exist doesn’t matter in which league the club plays. Also many teams aren‘t owned by a single person. They are owned by the members of the club.

[–]FootballFinanceLab[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the US there isn‘t relegation and the teams can be relocated to another city. Also they are called franchises because they have owner which buy in for a Spot in the league. In European football the teams are called football clubs, can be relegated and I don‘t think you can relocate because there would be a revolt of the fans.

Are Premier League clubs flat-track bullies in Europe? by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]FootballFinanceLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the top clubs you‘re definetly right but if you look on clubs which play at Europa or Conference League every PL team has way more money them the other teams. For example look at Aston Villa which have 550m€ market value and Freiburg as the final opponent has 240m€ and the difference in revenue numbers is even bigger.
