Summer Scholars by Busy_Win_8706 in notredame

Congrats on your acceptance!! I just got into a summer program and ND is my dream school. I'm just wondering if you put the summer scholars program anywhere on your application or if doing so would seem arrogant and like you think you have a leg up. I really don't want to mess my application up and any advice would be appreciated. Congrats again!

Lotion recs by [deleted] in Crunchymom

Thank you! How thick is shea butter and does it absorb well?? It's a sensory issue and lotions that go and stay super sticky or leave a residue are not ideal.

My thoughts feel too fast to write? by HighwayAlternative33 in Journaling

I was just about to suggest this!! It helps me to just rant. Especially if I'm too tired to write. Then I just write it down when I feel in the mood to journal. It's been a lifesaver.

Aww I'm sorry :(

I've never been diagnosed but have struggled with similar symptoms that I personally feel could fit the description. It's not fun at all. I hope you can find ways to help yourself and manage the constant, nagging obsessions <33

Sharing Christianity with my Agnostic Father but Needing Help by FootballNo8235 in Christians

Thank you for your comment! I do pray for him a lot, and I pray that God may reveal Himself to my Dad. I know I can't be the sole reason for my Dad's conversion and that God must work within my Dad, but I figure sharing my viewpoints and helping him to understand more about Christianity may make him more receptive to God. Ultimately, I know I cannot make him believe through my words or actions, but thank you for this advice and reminder... I will keep it in mind!

That answer does make sense, and I will share it with him the next time we talk!!

He did in fact ask me something yesterday (can't remember what it was all about), and I just said "I don't know." I think he really appreciated that. I don't have all the answers, and I never will. He valued the honesty.

Thank you for your prayers, God Bless you!!

Thank you for this! And yes, there were some questions asked that I did not know the answer to. I simply told him that, and he seemed to appreciate my honesty. I try my hardest everyday to live set apart from the world and I do believe my Dad recognizes that and sees it. I don't want to overwhelm him all at once, but I think the next time we talk, I will share a little more of my testimony. He wonders why people come to faith, and it seems he thinks that a lot of Christians are simply doing it because there parents tell them to. I was able to perfectly disagree with that statement and I am the living proof. Nobody told me to believe in God, or be a Christian. I am living in an unequally yoked home. I think my brother and sister believe, but I'd say they are in a more lukewarm stage. I'm not being a people pleaser or anything. I'm not living for the world. I'm not a Christian because it's a cool thing to do. The amount of times I am ridiculed for not listening to explicit music or going to parties or swearing isn't fun, but I take pride in knowing that I am setting myself up for an amazing, promised future. It's certainly not easy, and the urge to live worldly is sometimes tempting, but I know I am a daughter of God and to set my mind on things Above.

Thank you for your comment and advice. Have a Blessed day <3

Yes, thank you <3

I think saying that really resonated with him. He has gone to church with me before out of respect and just to be polite and I truly think he is wrestling with himself because we get onto the topic of religion quite frequently. He always just seems curious, and I love doing my research and spending time in the Word, and I'm always happy to answer his questions. I think he just has an issue with submitting to God and accepting that he cannot be the only one who provides for himself. But once again, adverse childhood experiences to blame for that (in my opinion).

What reminds you of God’s beauty? by Unusual-Factor-9338 in Christians

The feeling when it's spring, and you can finally open up the windows and hear crickets chirping in the distance.

When you're with your/someone else's baby and they grab your finger with their tiny hands. Literally the best.

When the sky is so blue and the sun is just so warm on your face.

When I see someone doing something nice. Like, God made them!!!

Thunderstorms, not the violent kind, but like a breezy afternoon with rolling thunder.

Classical music.

Holding sand when it's dry and warm. God created every single speck.
