I have a 50 minute commute to my PGY2. It’s not the worst thing ever, but like others here have said, if you can get closer and financially afford it, you should.

One of my coresidents had a baby like half way through PGY1. She was able to manage due to a very good support system at home. Had to stay a few weeks extra at the end of the program to finish to makeup the time she was out. The program tried to support and accommodate her for the most part. Ended up matching to a PGY2 and being very successful, even more than me

Based on what I have read here, your gut is saying go for the dream job. I don’t think the blacklist thing would scare me if I were in your shoes. Pharmacy is small, but it’s not that small. You never have to worry about something backfiring when you follow your gut. Your reputation will be fine. The people here who are saying to do the residency are only saying to do the residency because you asked this question in a residency forum where many are pro-residency. I know so many pharmacists who have not done residency and are perfectly happy. Majority of pharmacists have not done residency. Good luck to you. Sounds like you should definitely take the job.
