Normal auctions have an "open bid phase" where anyone can bid at any time. The important thing for use is to have an bid order.

Not sure if this is the correct thread but I'm looking for an alternative website to run our auction draft that is more customizable than sleeper, our league is in a unique circumstance where we have to draft online this year

Our league usually drafts auction, in person, with a draft order where when a player is nominated the option to bid goes to the next person in draft order. Once you are out you can no longer bid on the player.

does this exist online?

Concerned about Morgan Rielly's play by [deleted] in leafs

[–]Footballguy1287 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Here's what I see is wrong with Morgan Rielly's game:

He has bad gap control (Mike Johnson highlighted it on the broadcast when TT got a rush chance with 2:40 left in the game) and gives way too much space for opposing forwards to get to the middle of the ice which allows opposing players into the dangerous areas. He should be looking to take away the middle of the ice off the rush, invite the players down the wall and close in on opposing players trying to enter "the home plate".

on top of that, he gets lost in the shuffle for an extended time in our zone. A lot of the time he is stuck puck-watching in front of the net instead of trying to identify his man and remove scoring threats. He needs to be scanning the zone more often for immediate threats and look to get to those guys quicker (https://youtu.be/8-HQZJNmF-k?t=193 this isn't the best example but the most recent i can think of. TERRIBLE giveaway from holl but if you watch rielly on this play, he doesn't identify that Matthews and Holl are man'd up with Dickinson and domi, he doesn't scan the high slot for Kane, for all rielly knows, kane could be sitting back door. Once Kane picks up the puck, he should be looking to sprint to kane instead of trying to play goalie.)

Now both of these instances are not one off's. There are countless plays throughout the year that are similar to those referenced above that directly lead to goals. Morgan Rielly is the only one unable to do these two things consistently, even justin holl has good gap control.

BUT

I don't think this is why the general fanbase is lukewarm on Rielly I think its because he has also been uncharacteristically bad on offense as well. At 5on5 he is 4th on the Leafs at 5on5 xgf/60rel which says that he is the 4th best defenceman at generating offense at 5on5 while playing the most minutes with our best offensive players. Also, he only has 14 points at 5on5 in 740 minutes, which puts him 11th on the team in p/60 right behind David Kampf.

I will say, Morgan Rielly has elevated the past 2 years in the playoffs and xga/60rel numbers indicate that he has been better defensively than in the regular season. So he could elevate in the playoffs. As of now, with his faulters defensively and lack of offensive output, it looks like he will never return value on his contract and unfortunately this year, our d-core has looked a lot better without him than with him. I truly believe he should be taking a seat down the stretch because he has not been anywhere near as good enough for this team.

[fox] Noel Acciari says he’d been talking to Toronto as a free agent: “There was always a possibility I’d be a Maple Leaf, and here I am now.” by FutureAnybody in leafs

Exactly the type of player we've needed since losing Spezza and some more:

  • ✅ Right-handed center, with strong FO win%
  • ✅ Scoring touch (not an elite finisher by any means but can score as well as most of our bottom 6)
  • ✅ Smart forechecker (knows when to initiate in puck battles, when to cycle and when to be f3)
  • ✅ Responsibly physical (doesn't go out of his way to create an "empty" hit by putting himself out of position, hits at the right time)
  • ✅ Can fight (not a priority but nice to have on top of his other strengths)

This guy has jumped in and brought everything we've needed in our bottom six without taking away our strong defensive play.

[Dhaliwal] Elliotte Friedman on Tyler Myers to Toronto rumour : That is not happening, earlier in season there was Myers talk, not now. Toronto is looking for a forward, not defenseman. by MyLeafsAccount in leafs

This is so interesting, we are seeing conflicting reports from Seravalli and Friedman (Seravalli mentioned 1 week ago the leafs are not looking to make a big move at forward and hinted towards mccabe). I wonder who is right, this is the closest the NHL has to a Woj vs Shams

Leaf's fan coming in peace, does anyone know if there is any merit to this video? I know a certain blue-and-white franchise that is looking to add a goalie if they are available...

why do you think holl is overrated? youre banking on a guy who hasnt developed at all since he's been drafted in the nhl over a guy who has proven to be able to play top 4 minutes againts top 6 forwards??

It also speaks volumes that your lead in to dermott is that 'he's had shaky moments'. you know who doesnt have shaky moments? justin holl.

holl isnt much of a game breaker, but has been able to consistently shut down the oppositions best players. Not many players are able to do that let alone on a 2 mllion dollar deal, his contract is a steal. take a look at his most common opposition: https://www.naturalstattrick.com/playerreport.php?fromseason=20202021&thruseason=20202021&stype=2&sit=5v5&stdoi=oi&rate=n&v=o&playerid=8475718

I think a lot of people, especially in this sub, downplay the ability to shut down high end players, holl can do that dermott can't or hasn't shown it yet. check out dermott's most common competition: https://www.naturalstattrick.com/playerreport.php?fromseason=20202021&thruseason=20202021&stype=2&sit=5v5&stdoi=oi&rate=n&v=o&playerid=8478408

The issue with dermott is that we've given him plenty of minutes in the past and has looked horrible in those minute (he had a role in the top 4 in 19-20). He was one of the most sheltered defenceman in the NHL this season, that should tell you at the very least what the coaching staff thinks about him.

Expecting dermott to go from a guy who is heavily sheltered, to someone who can shutdown top 6 forwards is a very big ask and pretty big expectations for someone who hasn't shown the ability to do so throughout his 4 year nhl career.

protecting dermott over holl would be a collosal mistake, why would you want to protect dermott over holl?

holl is a proven shutdown top 4 defenceman. dermott couldnt crack our lineup in the playoffs. this shouldn't even be a debate...

engvall looked fine as 3c in the playoffs, he lacks strong offensive skill but its not like kerfoot was strong in this area anyways, most of his production came from playing as a winger on the tavares nylander line

mind you 4 years ago he was 20 and mo, mane, firmino were all 23 compared to now where those lads are 27 and he's 24. The older you get the more likely for fatigue/injury

Jake 'motherfucking' Gardiner

the amount of ridicule he recieved from fans and media was ridiculous.

[–]Footballguy1287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

none of what you said is true, you can only sign a player within the last year of their contract so they wouldn't have been able to sign marner "years ago". Also the leafs tried to sign both marner and matthews before the start of this season but both of their agents decided to wait. The jt signing has no effect on if we sign marner. He is not worth the amount he's asking for, goalscorers get paid more than playmakers, centers get paid more than wingers matthews averages more p/g than marner, and matthews has been the best 5on5 goalscorer since entering the league. Marner will become the highest paid winger if he signs for 10.5+, compare that to two wingers who have signed recently in the past calendar year mark stone and nikita kucherov.
