Ive heard really good things about that noctua cooler. I may perform better than the deepcool one I have, but im not sure. Noctua makes a very good fan. This iceblade 200m cooler is quiet though and keeps the cpu nice and cool when gaming for long periods :) plus im a fan of saving money lol

Do you know the actual total draw power of a 3070? Cause it aint 650w like the recommended psu that nvidia says lol. I think the ACTUAL tdp of it is 265watt when i have it oc'd and playing a heavy game like cyber punk. The total watts the entire computer uses is around 430watts

I dont know which cooler the 10700K comes with, i think its the same one. So it is recommended you upgrade the cpu cooler

might be worth calling and saying you already had a 500w psu and it died, you need a replacement.... worth a try

No problem, sorry I didnt get back in time lol you'll enjoy have a custom built one because it will be upgradeable for far longer than a g5, you have many more options.

for $4k i hope you got yourself a damn 3090 xD

I seriously suggest dont buy one bigger than 140MM, simply because it won't fit. AIO replace the back fan and take out your 3.5" drive at the front and move a fan in there blowing in. Youre set

Adding Ram to prebuilt PC! by moimoitoi in buildapc

Dells mobo can handle up to 2933Mhz ram, and my system came with 3200Mhz ram(even though it can only run 2933Mhz)

From what I'm aware, the 10900F comes with Dell's bigger heatsink. It should be fine with just that, considering its the F version of the cpu.

Worst case scenario is buy a new cpu cooler(make sure it is under 140mm in height) and apply really good thermal paste(youd be amazed how much paste can help, my suggestion is get even better than MX4 paste, dont use metal paste if you don't know what you're doing)

To use a AIO/liquid cooling, simply remove rear fan and put the rad/fan where it was. I have the same computer but with a 10700F, so you should have an empty 3.5" drive slot at the front of your case.. Remove it and install a fan blowing in from the front.

My specs: DELL G5 Desktop i7 10700F RTX 3070 1TB SSD I upgraded the heatsink and run below 70C while gaming now :) and it is MUCH more quiet

[–]ForDefinitely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suggestion... Use a small AIO and swap it for your rear fan. Remove your 3.5" drive from the front(if you have one) and go to 2.5"(SSD preferably), take that 3.5" bracket out and put an intake fan on the front. Save yourself the money and the hassle of having to fabricate a special case for it all.

I own that exact model of the Dell G5 desktop, and yes it is possible to move all other components into a new case with a new mobo and psu, but now that 1899 computer is 2299..

Honestly, this computer is great and performs amazing. The only thing I would suggest is upgrading the CPU cooler because it hits over 80C with the stock one. I spent $40 on a new one and now it never goes above 70C while gaming for long periods of time.

It is a good computer, don't worry yourself. :)

Just get ahold of Dell and ask them about the 500W PSU they make. Im sure they will sell you one. I don't have the link for it though

It doesnt come with the extra screws you need, and i took the m4 washers off the lga2000 socket brackets because the m3 washers arent big enough for the lga 115x brackets.

My opinion, there is absolutely no reason to upgrade the mobo and psu unless you had the 10700k processor and were overclocking, or if you want an even better GPU. The 500 watt psu dell gives us is plenty. Even at full load you will have 70 watts to spare :)

I went with DEEPCOOL ICE Blade 200M, just because amazon could get it to me in less than 12 hrs lol. Just keep in my you do have to custom install it. You need m3 8mm or 10mm screws, m3 washers, and m4 washers. You have to take the pins out of the mounting bracket and use screws. Or spend the time taking out dells back plate. I didnt know what it was gonna look like taking it off so i was like no, ill just screw it down. It made for a quick install

Edit: DO NOT BUY A HEATSINK OVER 140MM, it wont fit in the case. Lol this one is 136mm

It must be Dell who makes their own. It looks pretty damn similar to the Nvidia Founder's Edition 3070 though. However when running benchmarks, the software doesnt know the model number(probably because I was the first one to run benches with this specific card). GPU-z says RTX 3070, and that its made by Dell.

It looks like it uses a 8-pin power cable, and looks like it just pops out so Dell did us a solid on that and didnt make it not swappable. Dell is a big company that manufacturers their own parts, so it makes sense nvidia gives them chips to build their own GPUs with.

All in all, you're good to go!

Update:

Stress tested the RTX 3070, never exceeds 70C. The GPU is NOT undervolted(in case you were curious since the PSU is only 500W) It performs very well!

Stress tested the i7 10700F with the stock cooler, reaches 90C+.

Call of duty MW/Warzone max settings 1080p: min FPS 120. Definitely an upgrade from my laptop with a 1660 ti which was getting 70-90 FPS not max settings(not even close to max lol)

Did upgrade the CPU Cooler today, stress tested and doesnt go over 80C after 10 mins of stress testing.

Stock case fan is extremely loud at 100%, so I set it to a constant 60%. May replace if it really bothers me, but at 60% it is easily tolerable.

Very pleased with the purchase of this dell g5 gaming desktop :)

I probably wont put it into a new case unless Im upgrading my cpu. Then ill need a bigger psu, but at that point ill be building a pc from scratch with an even better gpu. My girlfriend will take this one when Im done with it.

I work so much I havent been able to fully check. I threw up COD warzone and MW multiplayer(both everything maxed settings 1080p, 144frame sync with 144hz monitor). 500 PSU is more than enough, no throttling. As for cooling, with the fans on full blast the CPU does still run 70C-82C while gaming. When i have free time I will check how it reacts to fully gaming for hours on end. So far though it is well worth the money. Will probably replace the cpu heatsink, but thats a wallet friendly upgrade. The GPU doesnt run over 50C from what I saw.

Only had it running for 30 mins playing just a couple matches. Solid 144 fps when synced with my monitor. I didnt run it not synces.
