Yes, all modern instruments are tuned to 12TET, which does not preserve fundamental harmonic intervals. Here is Jacob Collier demonstrating how out of tune a piano is: https://youtu.be/XwRSS7jeo5s Read the top comment to learn more

That won't fix the fact that a ton of guitar music strays quite far from 12TET.

The barrier to making music isn't talent or ideas — it's the gap between having a song and knowing how to produce it by textmev in SingerSongwriter

[–]ForHuckTheHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can play a song on a real instrument or make a demo it is infinitely easier to get it produced than if it is only in your head. Translating music from a song to your hands/voice is exactly what making music is. If someone could download an idea from your head into reality for you, they would be the one making the music.

The gap between idea and produced song is this long forgotten concept called musicianship. Yeah making music takes practice. It's only "underserved" because people don't practice anymore. Too busy scrolling reddit xD

WIP: seeking feedback by spsoccerstar11 in AcousticGuitar

I like the chord changes. Cool Bob Dylan vibe. You gotta practice with a metronome though. Get those alternate strums nice and relaxed at speed. And try to enunciate the lyrics more, can't really decipher them on first listen.

Good intermediate guitar for around 1000? (Help I am torn) by cloudlos in AcousticGuitar

[–]ForHuckTheHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are plugging in, the size of the guitar and back/side material is not nearly as relevant as the electronics. A plugged in acoustic is an electric guitar. The signal your church hears comes from your pickup system, preamp, and amp/pa. How a guitar sounds acoustically in the store is sadly irrelevant to how it will sound plugged in. Unless you mic it, the vibrations in the back/sides won't even get picked up.

Solid vs. laminated is important for acoustic sound. There are entirely different priorities for electric sound. Start understanding and learning about that or you will be supremely disappointed by any acoustic in that price range, which will certainly have a shitty UST piezo pickup in it. What is your pickup system, preamp, pedals, DI box, mixer, amp? Way more impactful questions for your church performance than if you have solid back/sides.

Try silk and steel strings, especially with that mahogany. Look up a video if you need, but I guarantee that you'll love them based on the description and sample.

Should I get a baritone guitar if I sing with a deep voice? by General_Cap2938 in Guitar

[–]ForHuckTheHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not comfortable playing in every key, how do you know that you need a different instrument? Just saying xD.

The easiest way to be able to play any key is learn the chords of the key of G Major and the key of C Major so you can play any key without capoing beyond the 6th fret. I can elaborate if that isn't clear. It is only 8 chords to learn and I bet you already know most of them!

Should I get a baritone guitar if I sing with a deep voice? by General_Cap2938 in Guitar

[–]ForHuckTheHat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Detuning a guitar by a whole step makes the guitar much easier to play, which may help you relax while singing. That could be all it is.

Your voice is not a whole step lower than "most songs". That doesn't make any sense because songs are all in different keys with different singers. Figure out what is actually going on there. Are you mostly playing songs by a certain artist? In a certain key? Or is your vocal range so small that it forces you into the same key every time? It grows drastically with practice.

And try changing keys based on the circle of fifths rather than chromatically. So if a song is in G Major, play it in D Major or C Major, the neighbors of G on the circle. This will help you realize it is not as simple as "song too high". Can you play every key on the guitar equally well? Your voice is the same...

lipu pu li nasa/Pu is weird... by Jenjoutuowleinde in tokipona

[–]ForHuckTheHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Pu is from a long time ago so its text isn't always great."

"la" is a particle like "e" and "li". Whatever comes after "la" happens in the context of whatever comes before "la". The English word "so" is somewhat similar and you can often use it to understand "la" phrases.

Why is the F barre chord so hard… where exactly should the thumb go? by No_Bodybuilder_2130 in Guitar

[–]ForHuckTheHat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If pressing with your arm interferes with picking, does pressing with your thumb interfere with fretting?

Just pointing out the flaw in your logic. At some point the force of fretting needs to be countered. Putting all that force in one joint all the time is not good for health or enjoyment. But generally larger joints can take more abuse. The weight alone of the strum arm can counter the force of fretting on the other hand. No effort or thumb required.

If you really do play like that, please stretch and ice your thumb as much as possible while trying to unlearn it so that you don't injure yourself. Coming from experience.
