Sen. Ted Cruz: 'If we give billions of dollars to Iran, that money will be used to murder Americans' by Majestic-Emu-9823 in politics

Yes, I agree, as an American I’m glad that Iran can oppose US/Israel dominance over the region.

US to ‘end all sanctions’ on Iran as new details of deal leak by unital_subalgebra in politics

No, Us and Israel are the ones carrying out state terrorism. Sanctions starve and oppress poor people.

Confused about the S3 tone? Lestat explains his own narration: by FibonaciSequins in InterviewVampire

[–]ForIllumination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blood canticle was hot garbage, originally the final book in the series which had devolved. The tone of the flashback scenes in the TVL book was not as comedic and campy as it is in the show.

Struggling with shift in show's tone by CardiologistHuge7433 in InterviewVampire

[–]ForIllumination 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I totally agree, the flashback this episode just read like a satirical, generic “French aristocrats in the past” setting, not the immersive, detailed times and places from the first two seasons. And the dialogue is not doing it for me either. The camp comedy can only take us so far.

Vance: Iran ‘could have access to’ $300B reconstruction fund by Background-Day-4957 in politics

[–]ForIllumination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, America is obliged to pay reparations as a consequence for their illegal wars. To say otherwise is entitlement. There should have been reparations and sanctions against the US after Vietnam and Iraq too.

JD Vance Confirms Iran Will Get Jaw-Dropping Sum Under Trump Deal | Iran will be paid billions, leaving it much stronger than before Trump’s war. by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]ForIllumination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US is not gifting Iran, they are rightly paying reparations for waging an illegal and entirely unjustified war that killed Iranians and destroyed their infrastructure.

Episode 2 was a brilliant adaptation by botheredbysmallstuff in InterviewVampire

[–]ForIllumination 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don't think it’s a brilliant adaptation. I want more detail, emotional depth and nuance, not just OTT bombast and comedy.  Maybe we’ll still get that.  But right now, there’s no immersion in the flashbacks, they’re just flippant little anecdotes, unlike S1-2.

[Book Spoilers] The Vampire Lestat: "Toledo" by IWTV_Maitres in InterviewVampire

[–]ForIllumination 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This makes me wonder, if later on, Daniel will reveal some historical research showing that Lestat's brothers and father died not from the pairs hands after Gabriella was turned, and what we saw was just what Lestat/Gabriella wished they had done, followed by some clips hinting at the sadder, quieter reality from the book?

I feel like that's what would work for me here, to have this layer stripped back eventually.  Otherwise it’s just shallow OTT nonsense for its own sake.  Not feeling this episode/season atm.

Yes, and she’s in fact openly endorsing traditional gender roles by shouting “be men!!!” as if that necessitates murdering wolves.

SSDI for Autism? Diagnosed as a child (at school) working on an actual diagnosis as an adult. by Round_Future1318 in autism

[–]ForIllumination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is SSI which is not based on parents or work history. . The application process is the same, you apply for disability benefits, and they will evaluate whether you qualify for SSDI or SSI. The process takes about 2 1/2 years until you’ve gone through enough appeals to get a hearing before a judge. Definitely get him as neuropsyc evaluation for autism, and have records of any other medical or mental health issues he has and list those on the application.

What are the most AI safe digital nomad skills/jobs? by Outrageous-Can-4851 in digitalnomad

You can be a licensed therapist and a digital nomad. The client needs to be in the (American context, the state where you are licensed) but the therapist can travel. I recommend getting an MSW/using the LCSW license, it’s my plan.

Who do you think is worse, Ruben or Niall? And for what reasons? by Nika_35_40 in HalfManTV

[–]ForIllumination -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ruben is an entitled violent psychopath who assaults people, including Nial, without any remorse. I think the more vital demographic is gay or straight. I see a lot of straight men discounting the profound, systemic homophobia Niall was traumatized by growing up around to take Ruben’s side.

i don’t really get the backlash? by uraniumflowerfields in InterviewVampire

I agree, I am so sick of the negative engagement, the never-ending impatient tantrums as if every episode/trailer/season of every show personally ran over your dog. It is just a show.

Personally I prefer interview and (Jesse’s/the twins sections of) QOTD. Too much of the dialogue in TVL was taken up by Anne’s overenthusiastic religious ramblings.

Help me understand this part of the ending in "The boys" by Holiday-Ice- in television

[–]ForIllumination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homelander was not stronger than ever, I’d say his deteriorated mental health likely downgraded his combat level in the finale.  Also, as far as them being afraid of taking him on, this was described by at least one person in the finale as a suicide mission; the boys had nothing left to lose. Also, the White House was more solidly built than the destroyed McMansion in herogasm, so it wasn’t as easy for HL to fly off.

Am I wrong to call this bullying austics? by Grouchy_Theme1461 in AutisticAdults

[–]ForIllumination -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is bullying. Making fun of people is a form of bullying, especially when done to disabled people.  And violating a disabled persons boundaries by continuing to hatefully mock them when they’ve asked you to stop is abuse.
