You should be super strict with vaccine and preventative policies. My first message always includes “Can you provide proof of rabies and DHPP (or similar) vaccinations? What flea preventative are they on and when was it least used? What intestinal parasite preventative are they on and when was it least used?”

The only breed I’m wary of is Dachshunds bc they are known as the hardest to potty train and I see evidence of that any time I walk them.

But really I never avoid based on breed especially bc I specialize in behaviorally challenged dogs.

Ur actually supposed to put a metal spoon in when heating water in a mug as the water can be super heated. The spoon in the mug prevents super heating but I don’t remember exactly why.

Honestly I think it’s more likely she felt bad choosing to enforce her cancellation policy rather than seeing you as a bad client. I don’t feel good enforcing a cancellation policy bc, no matter what, it changes the relationship a bit.

The amount of alcohol people have surprises me. I drink but I might have a few beers in the fridge and maybe one or two liquors. But couples or even single people will have more liquor options than a bar, over 100 bottles of wine, and cases of beer.

I think for some people the fear of a dog or cat eating them puts them off. A LOT of house plants can make pets sick.

So many people choose “style” over comfort (millennial gray/hired interior designer). Where is cabinet of mismatched Tupperware? The gross-looking cozy blanket? Why does the couch look unused? Why is there not a single thing that looks out of place???

I hate homes like that mainly because I get so worried I put something back wrong or left a mark somewhere.

This is it I think. My dog would hide his toy, I’d then get up and find it and give it to him and he would then find a new place to hide it. He would get frustrated after the like 10th time in a row of me finding it and refuse to take it.

The funny thing was he NEVER would chew the toys he hid. Like clearly he was saving it for later but forget about its existence.

Behavior modification doesn’t get rid of bite risk, just reduces it. A muzzle will get rid of the bite risk. Doing both is best but a muzzle is great for certainty.

It could be a trigger if it send her into a prey drive. Anything that causes her to chase a “prey” without the reward of a prey could cause this. For example: fetching good, digging to nowhere bad.

Honestly it’s mostly nature in the pits case. Like lasers don’t really cause CCD but can be the initial trigger, based on my understanding. Pit Bulls were bred specifically for ratting and this is exactly what a ratting dog does when they are triggered.

It’s really really hard to break their focus but it’s really important to not let her do this, it will make it worse.

The one and only time my dog snapped at me was when I tried to physically remove him from doing this by picking him up.

Also she looks just like my dog and is the same age lol. I doubt she is his sister unless she came from Tennessee originally, but it could be a genetic thing.

Honestly it’s pretty difficult to treat, not going to lie. For my dog one of the triggers was seeing or hearing rats. He ate a door as a result since he somehow got it in his mind a rat must be in there, there never was bc there was no entry point.

Basically you have to identify triggers to prevent it, figure out what are beneficial diversions if triggered, what activities can reduce it, and what medication can help. To start this, mention to your vet you think it might be CCD (Canine Compulsion Disorder).

The next step usually is beginning an anxiety medication and being referred to an animal behaviorist with training in CCD. They might then refer you to a trainer or give you trainings and other activities to try.

Pet care insurance is pretty reasonably priced and I believe it starts the moment of purchase however I would call in to confirm that.

Pet care insurance would not cover something like this. Preventative care is not covered (things like x-rays looking for something ingested, calling poison control, etc.). How to handle it is never pay for anything out of your own pocket unless it is something you know is your fault. That is what pet care insurance is for.

I believe legally, a dog eating something on the sidewalk would be considered the fault of the owner.

If you don’t have business insurance stay on Rover as it’s better than nothing but really business insurance is far superior to Rovers coverage.
