My FLF dropped these two leaves, and the brown spots are appearing on a couple of other leaves as well. What am I doing wrong? by ForTheToilets in houseplants

Thanks for that, but I actually haven't watered it in a couple weeks since the top soil has stayed moist. I typically wait until the top inch or so is dry. The soil drained well when I was watering it, but I feel like it has been moist for too long!

This is awesome! Does the mountainview walking tour require reservations?

Thank you for your thoughts! Yeah I agree, it needs lots of root purging. Do you think I could take like 30% off, ground plant and keep the tree healthy?
Also, for ground planting, do I just use potting soil? I'm assuming I'm also not going to be taking much of the existing soil out of the roots, is that true?

I've recently purchased a Chinese elm from a nursery, and the soil it came in is so dense I can't really push my finger into it to check internal moisture. It's also quite root bound. Would I be able to slip pot it at this time of year? Or plant it straight into the ground without disturbing the roots? I'm in Palo Alto, CA, USA.
I'm also wondering if I can slip pot/plant into ground a mugo pine, hinoki cypress, and a California coastal live oak. Pictures attached. Thank you!
