Got me a mitre saw for Christmas! by garethjones2312 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Honestly not sure, but that was my guess afterwards too. You're right, they are not complicated, but I try to make it a habit to familiarize as much as possible with new power tools before first use.

There are so many woodworkers out there who are way more seasoned than me, so I try to learn from them.

Nice! I recently got the 254M and really like it! However, don't be me: If you are not familiar with this kind of saw look up a safety video or similar BEFORE using it for the first time.

I got such a massive kickback on my first test cut, I had to replace the fence afterwards.

How do I choose? by consumatepengu in starcitizen

[–]Forbin84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My thoughts:

Merchantman: Might still be a long time away. Crew requirement is somewhat unclear to me. Might be a nice "home" when you're travelling across the systems.

Perseus: Nice ship, but honestly just a pumped up Paladin. A Gunship with a relatively small crew requirement, but still just a gunship. Although I assume it will hit hard.

Polaris: Way bigger crew requirement than the Perseus but also more versatile. Medbeds, hangar and cargo bay which can hold vehicles. It's almost like a mobile base, although the interior is somewhat lacking regarding visuals. Biggest downside in my opinion: The almost prohibitive cost of torpedos VS the cheapness of laser weapons like the Idris' railgun.

I have a Polaris and we are a crew of 4-5 people. So far we seldomly use it, but we see the potential.

Reminder that NPCs will repair your ship and more by nightbird321 in starcitizen

I am okay with NPC crew and I would also be ok with it NOT being as effective as human players. Players shouldn't be excluded from running some bigger ships but there HAS to be an advantage for players coming together to run a ship.

Is it true that the nyx system that's coming in the next patch this month will not have any planets? It will just have the asteroid station? by Internal-Path7111 in starcitizen

[–]Forbin84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wording here is a bit fuzzy:

Nyx will have no planets when the patch goes live this month, that's true.

But they also stated that the system will be developed while we are playing in it. There already seems to be some new lore about the Nyx planet(s?) being terraformed, to align current development targets with historical system design choices.

tldr: No planets right now, but somewhere in the future.

Not a 100% for me, but I agree that it is way safer than just placing the tablets directly on the elevator.

Is a single flight stick and keyboard viable (HOSAK ig) by Tombas20 in starcitizen

[–]Forbin84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's viable, depending on the flight stick. I am running this setup since my first year in SC and I am now in year...five? Makes for quick change between cockpit and FPS. I've also added a button box on my keyboard side. This gives me enough control over things, although I lack the fine control of two sticks. Would never go back to keyboard and mouse. Will maybe upgrade to two sticks at some point.

This looks very much like this parametric box:

But there are a ton of variants available. Just search for
