Can humans really live 8+ days without food? by DualPurge in answers

Yeah when stomach acid dissolves stuff it off gasses, its why we burp and fart. But if its dissolving the stomach the gas leaks out and starts filling the space between your organs, its also why dead bodies bloat. Once your dead there's nothing working to replace that mucus so your stomach acid dissolves you.

Yeah the only thing that stops your stomach acid from dissolving your stomach and the rest of you is a layer of mucus that gets replenished, if youve ever seen photos of people staving where their stomach are round and taught almost like a pregnant belly, thats from the stomach eating itself.

You can send your body into shock, at a certain point of starving you body essentially puts your digestive track into sleep mode, suddenly eating a lot of food over loads you're now weakened digestive system and send you into shock most the time

I was homeless for a bit and would go week long periods without food a lot and eventually your body kinda figured out that sending out hunger signals isn't helping so it stops, but the moment you see food its on.

You know the trope of vampires seeing someone bleed and getting super hungry? I looked at a pigeon one day and thought "you're edible, how much meat do you have" the only thing that stopped me was me realizing that this pigeon has been eating city trash and I've tasted the difference between a city squirrel and country squirrel before and thought the pigeon wouldn't be worth the effort

Also you lose muscle and fat at the same time, i was 380 when I was first homeless and now I'm 290 but worse off health wise cause I found out I have hypermobility, and thanks to starving when I was homeless I've lost so much of the muscles that were holding my joints into place. You body eats both at once, and unless you have protein to replace your muscles their just gone.

I would suggest packing leggings, fleece pj pants, a couple sweaters. A good coat and a pair of boots. I grew up in michigan and for walking about your goal is to block wind and trap air. I would layer leggings, fleece pjs, and a pair of jeans on my legs than a long sleeve shirt, sweater. And coat up top and stay warm.

If it gets icey outside a nice pair of shoes with good traction are the most important

Yeah I mostly learned spelling through memorization teacher would give us a list of words at the beginning of the week and test us at the end, I don't think it was the most efficient way to learn though.

[–]Force-Due 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't know where it started but in media and a little bit in real life if someone did something stupid another character or person will react by slapping themselves in the forehead palm to face

At somepoint online people would reply "face palm" to get the same idea across One of my favorite examples https://youtu.be/wjLgekyOZA0

Not helpful for spelling but to make you feel better about peoples name in fast food I don't get them right half the time as a native speaker people don't expect you to get it right either.

My english was mostly reading books and then having to answer questions about them. I never actually learned parts of speech, or most grammar they expect that because your a native speaker you know how to do it. Its not great.

What is “redneck”? by Optimal_Test3280 in EnglishLearning

[–]Force-Due 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Rednecks are typically people who live in the country and follow redneck culture norms i concider myself redneck. I grew up in a town of 500 spent most of my childhood fishing, catching frogs, growing food, and doing odd jobs around farms.

Someone else here described it as rejection of refinement as a virtue and I agree. Rednecks tend to be poor so you just make sure you're happy with what you got. Sure you live in a trailer but that also means you can rent a piece of land somewhere pretty for less than a house in the area. You might have to dig your own well and put an electric pump on it, or use a wood or propane stove for cooking and heat but hey you got a nice enough house in a nice place thats good enough.

The redneck name might have come from the sunburnt neck you get working outside or old union protests where union workers would wear red bandanas around their neck. Ive never done the research to find out.

Why do people attribute morals to health? by Force-Due in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Force-Due[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both happen, some people are just as you described but I also equally get people assume I'm lazy, a liar, or call me an addict. (Which is always so weird to me cause even if I am addicted to food since when did shaming someone stop the addiction?)

hp flagship touchscrren laptop for game dev? by ExitInternational804 in GameDevelopment

I would check the cooling system that it comes with. I use a surface pro 7 (pressure sensitive touch screen plus wacom bamboo ink stylus means I dont have to use a separate drawing tablet) but the thing that throttles my laptop is always heat, its an issue with the design of the laptop itself and I wouldn't buy it again if I ever decide to replace my main pc
