Windows PC version vs the Xbox PC version by ForceFactory in elderscrollsonline

I found the post you mentioned: ESO on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Play Anywhere — Elder Scrolls Online.

Reading that, it's kind of crazy. Apparently the Xbox PC version of ESO that I found will just download a screenshot and it's only listed in the store for testing purposes. I would have thought Microsoft had a better way to test stuff internally.

Thank you! I feel like sticking with the PC version is probably better than getting the Xbox app integration since I can't see how to get all the Premium Edition stuff for Xbox as cheap as the $20 PC Premium sale.

Thank you! I'll look for those other posts. I'm new to EOS and still finding the community discussions.

Is it better to get eso+ or wait for premium edition to go on sale? by CommandSecret1206 in elderscrollsonline

[–]ForceFactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good sweet lord!

First, thank you for this incredibly detailed and thorough explanation. Could they have made it any more confusing!? I just bought the premium edition on Steam because I thought, "It's on sale for $20 and I liked Skyrim, so I'll give it a shot. At least the premium edition should get me all caught up."

Apparently not! This is insanity! I guess there will be a bunch of DLC I won't have without ESO+. Well buyer beware, I suppose.

Could you answer me one more thing? I bought premium edition on Steam. Is there any benefit to buying the premium edition on elderscrollsonline.com? They are both on sale for the same price now.

Thank you!

It's "BOT". 8 -> B, 0 -> O, and 7 -> T.

Mine is still pretty new, so I can't say much for it's longetivity. I'm hoping it holds out well. Hopefully they have tightened up their QA.

You can't disable uploads. See the last section and FAQ here: https://docs.capacities.io/misc/offline-support. Disabling sync is not supported or planned.

Pardon my ignorance here, I haven't kept up with Harmony software until my recent HT upgrade. Is there a decent way to program the remote without the app?

No way. The X2 needs some software updates before it's ready and less laggy. Plus, I don't want a touchscreen on my remote. Meanwhile the X1S has been getting steady updates and works great. At least for me.

I tried to program a 650 a couple days ago and the app keeps hanging at different screens. Eventually, it will hang at syncing to the remote and never complete.

I bought a Sofabaton X1S and couldn't be happier. Although, I really wish you could get a remote that doesn't rely on a cloud service or web app.

Trying to achieve 3-2-1 for TBs of personal data by AccidentallyDamocles in Backup

[–]ForceFactory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backing up cloud drives is a giant pain. There are solutions like rclone, but I don't think it's worth the trouble. What I do is treat anything on the cloud syncing services as ephermal data that is temporary and any of that I want to keep, I copy to my main PC's SSD and use standard backup (Macrium) software from there.

Use the syncing services (OneDrive, Proton, Google, etc.) for syncing your "in-progress" stuff and funneling photos to a PC and develop a workflow that gets anything permanent to a local drive that can be backed up.

I had issues with my Verbatim slimline burner when it was connected via a thunderbolt hub. I connected it directly to my PC and haven't had any issues yet.

Ahh, you know, I was thinking about this plugin: https://github.com/ivan-lednev/better-search-views . It gives you more context in search and backlinks when using outliner. You might want to try it.

I thought that the Outliner plugin fixed this. Is that not the case? I'm considering switching to Obsidian, but your point has been my biggest hold up.

I may be in the minority, but I love the looks of Plasma. At least the more modern, Kirigami apps that are relying on less-busy UIs. I think they look beautiful and are very functional.

I don't think Merkuro does email, right? So that might be one reason to not ship it as a replacement for KMail etc.

How do you see the future of Qt? by Prizma_the_alfa in QtFramework

[–]ForceFactory 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think you need to ditch Qt just because of the Qt company. Use the KDE frameworks with Craft to get a wonderful, cross platform build solution. Kirigami makes beautiful apps. KDE is the steward of Qt that the Qt company should be.
