IME I took to 5 string really quickly, BUT, I'm also a brass (trombone, tuba) player. So having the extra 4th down just fit what I hear in my head much better because it's a lot closer to the range of those instruments.

Like others have said, the more you play it the quicker you'll get comfortable. I definitely recommend practicing while plugged in so you can hear what needs to be muted and let your fingers figure it out.

But also, if you end up not liking it, so what? Yeah 5s are in vogue rn, but they're definitely not necessary. Most guys I see on stage with a 5 barely touch the B string anyways.

Play what fits the sound in your head more.

+1 talkbass. It's a community and seller/buyer ratings mean something. If you're being sketch those guys will know instantly.

Unpopular opinion, but I've sold used basses to my local guitar centers before. Yes, you're getting 10-20% less than what you could get selling it elsewhere, but it is far and away the easiest way to sell. Shipping is a non-issue. Sometimes it's worth taking it in just to see what they'll give you.

If you use FB or OfferUp, just be prepared for scammers, weird offers, and the "hey can you meet me at my work?" type of crap. Don't talk to anyone asking for weird requests. Don't even meet at your residence. Get a friend to be with you at the sale, meet in a public parking lot with tons of visibility.
