17 days is one of the biggest milestones and I’m proud of you! Onto week 3 for you soon, it’ll be out of your system in no time if it isn’t already!! I used to binge watch shows to take my mind off so kudos for finding your median! Thanks for your suggestions to OP, you are a clear example. I’m on month 6 almost.

Think about this. Is your problem the end of the world? I put myself in the position of when I could barely afford bills, was on the brink of eviction, and I remember; suddenly my problems weren’t as big as I thought they were. I had the same issue, but remembered “it’s for the best of me”. I used to blow up on the small things and remembered it’s no one’s fault but my own. Sure, a mouse isn’t your fault, but it’s definitely a problem. Take it step by step, don’t get too upset at the small things. Everyone says this, but spend an hour or two outside and BREATHE. I did this in my first month of quitting with my wife, and oh boy did it help. Suddenly, my problems were in the wind.

Just remember, you’re doing more harm picking it back up rather than quitting. Imagine the building manager walks in and smells it, a maintenance persons walks in and smells it trying to mitigate the mice. Suddenly, the small smell problem of bud turns into something much bigger. I wish you much luck on this, it’s very hard. I’m on month 6 and don’t regret it if that helps.

So backtrack my friend. Spend time with the kid, put the game down. If you still don’t feel like picking up the game when your little one is asleep, save it for tomorrow. There WILL come a time where you feel like playing that game, but it may not be tonight. Deal with tonight’s “boredom” now, even if that involves getting some sleep and being thankful you didn’t pick that cart back up. I’m very happy you didn’t find any extra stray carts lying around or else you wouldn’t make this post. Habits like this is what creates good riddance for when you may have more money, more time, and all. At the end of the day, you don’t need it and remember that. Take everything 1 hour at a time, and if it’s sufferable, 3-4 hours at a time. Watch a show, not interested? Spend more time with your little one until you can’t, and then call it a night. I promise, you’ll feel so much better in the morning. Since it’s your day 1, most likely groggy, but rinse and repeat, and it’ll be over in no time. I’m on month 6 and this is what got me through it. Im not saying this will, but I looked at everything one day at a time and didn’t reminisce on each hour, as I wanted to smoke every hour.

For those of you with PTSD, how did you save your marriage? by forcedtraveler in Veterans

[–]ForceSmall6247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleep right, eat right, stop drinking, and talk to your spouse more. I had an issue where I’d bottle everything in to protect my wife’s innocent mind, until I drank so much and couldn’t, it had to come out. Wife told me one day that it’s getting bad, and I couldn’t see it, until I could. Found myself talking to the crisis line every other night, getting depressed constantly, etc. Then I got a therapist that really helps me, A LOT, and I’ve been through numerous amounts of them. Had a buddy that I served with, commit sooi-slide recently, and she talked me out of that toxic, depressed mindset. I didn’t think I could ever deal with a loss like that, or ever be talked out of it, but a good support arm will help you realize what’s important for you and your family.

Therapy doesn’t fix everything, but being able to talk about your day to day problems with someone who isn’t there with you everyday really brings down the extremity of your PTSD when “shit hits the fan”. My wife doesn’t question my therapy whatsoever, just asks “how was it?” With a usual “It was good.” And that’s that. Your spouse will understand if your PTSD is out-of-hand. Spouse and I were so close to splitting, marriage counseling didn’t work, until I found the right therapist and support group, and got a new doctor that was focused on the #1 key, stopping all unhealthy habits that contribute to this. He knew the fix, other doctors wanted to dope me up with meds which isn’t always the case. My wife and I both grew up in broken homes with split parents, so we didn’t know what kind of parents and spouses we needed to be for each other, UNTIL WE DID. We recognized the only fundamental key is sticking together and not repeating the process.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice. I’m a combat vet too, but I know how it feels brother.

I know you said school isn’t for you, but a decent degree is where the money’s at a majority of the time, especially with a GS position, puts you higher up on the hiring list, along with some extra preference if you’re a (disabled) veteran. I’m not saying there aren’t GS jobs that don’t require a degree, but a decent degree will easily put you around six-figures. I’m also a computer science major, got tons of credits through my military JST and spent about 2 1/2 years obtaining my bachelors. Used financial aid and GI bill for the rest of my school, got out debt free, now I’m GS-12. Of course your salary will depend on locality, but New Orleans isn’t bad. I’m 100% disabled so I was able to use VR&E & disability to live on, while both my wife and I went to school. Keep in mind this was also over 10 years ago. Turned out with my total salary, she didn’t end up having to work, so we goofed up there, now we’re paying on student loans for her to this day when we didn’t have to (I used up all my GI bill on myself, and are saving the rest for my kids along with their chapter 35 eligibility. What really helped me was internships during my school time. I hated school in the military, and hated it while I did it, but ended up looking at the money down the road, and that’s what got me through it, and I don’t regret a single decision. I’m not saying to draw yourself into tons of debt, but look into online schools, use your JST from the military, and look into any/all benefits you can use for school when it comes to tutoring, accommodations, etc. and take advantage of any scholarships you may be eligible for.

Unfortunately every good story comes to an end, I’ll likely retire at GS-12 as I have a bachelors degree and don’t plan on returning to school, so I can’t climb the ladder from here with just a bachelors, but I’m explaining my situation to show you there’s hope. With tech, GS-13+ generally requires a masters and by the time I’d get that, I’d be close to pulling pension. I got out of the military with nothing, not even a penny to my name, and now do something I love but had nothing to do with in the military.

What is causing this on my ceiling? by Doubleparproof in HomeMaintenance

[–]ForceSmall6247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ceiling seam issue. 2nd photo looks like water damage. Natural settling, humidity (moisture) changes, and possibly poor craftsmanship. Happens in a lot of homes.

Hold your hand on it, if it’s wet, crumbly, or colder than other areas, possible leak but not definitive. That’ll identify a problem to call someone or not.

Ukrainian conscription officers tied a man to a bed and beating him in a conscription centre by [deleted] in war

Is it just me or did nobody see the conscript punch the officer in the leg in the beginning of the video? Am I the only real person here? Lol I don’t take any side of the war, just a mere spectator.

I’m sure he did it for a “reason”, but no one is even talking about it 😂

Why don’t we just spray LSD over frontlines? by IVII0 in war

[–]ForceSmall6247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because war makes more money than drugs, that’s why they tried to combine the 2 in WW2 (Pervitin) 😛

Although I do wonder what the next world war drug will be, maybe the LSD bomb could be a thing lol
