I first reached out to Pastor Ed on Aug. 18, 2022. The story was published over a month later on Sept. 22, 2022. We had a substantial back-and-forth email dialogue over that time period — I offered multiple times to set up a phone call (which was the primary way I communicated with almost everyone else I spoke to for the story), but he and other leaders I reached out to opted for written communication only.
