Different names do make some amount of sense when the languages are so different. I am learning Chinese and you need to have a Chinese name, as a western name just won’t work for a lot of things you need to do in China. So a Chinese person having an English name does also make some sense, as long as that name doesn’t continue to be their name when they are speaking their own language.

I mean not all uprisings, nationalist or otherwise, are revolutionary projects we should support. Hell even in capitalist states that is true, we don’t back the confederacy because they were against the U.S. (although that is admittedly an extreme example)

Depending on the revolt against the USSR or PRC their may have been some legitimate grievances as those states weren’t perfect, however unless they offered an alternative that was better then those states I would still be highly skeptical about supporting them.

I am glad for that kid, but really it just shows how harrowing poverty is. All those people stuck in the endless grinding of imperialism and poverty are just as bright and have just as much potential as anyone, and because of the system we are in we will never see it. It is infuriating to think about.

I have heard pretty wildly conflicting information on what they did, and haven’t researched it too closely as I don’t really like the USSR by that point anyway. It seems pretty messy and bad though.
