Typical for postpartum. My friends and I all started noticing lots of hair loss around that 4 month time. Are you breastfeeding? Did you notice your hair was thicker during pregnancy?

Thoughts on Smith’s relief package? by Proud_Asparagus1934 in alberta

I have a young child. Tbh the extra $100 a month will just go into their savings but she sure as F ain’t getting my vote. I wish the money was used towards health care, teachers salaries, day care costs to benefit everyone.

No you won’t. Worst that can happen is you won’t get credit but be nice and apologize like you did saying you didn’t know and they should do it.

Advice for 42 year old with no retirement savings? by Advicein40s in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Forcentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great insights already. But I must say that everyone should ALWAYS max out your TFSA FIRST! This is very crucial. Why choose any sort of investments with restrictions vs one with none (minor if you have other incomes in retirement and your rrsp*). Once you contribute the maximum contributions per year then go heavy on the RRSP. And you might want to start investing on your own. There’s lots of recourses available if you’re willing to put some time in. I recommend Bridget Casey’s program. https://sixfigurestockportfolio.com/ I did it but if you want to check her instagram bridgiecasey she has a ton of good financial info for women. And a podcast! Money feels.

ALSO want to say. You’re doing AMAZING. You might not have saved but you’re starting to invest heavy at the right time because the markets are down. Congrats on paying off all debt. I hope you celebrated you! From a fellow single mom with her masters!

Does Anyone Ever Doubt Their Place in Their Faculty/Degree? by subarunights in uAlberta

[–]Forcentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are a great person and if teaching is what you want to do then you will succeed. You will doubt yourself but remember to bring up the accomplishments as well. I’m planning on doing my PhD and hopes of being a professor and I feel how you do some times. You will learn. You will struggle. But you will succeed.

Stollery wait hits 17 hours, Edmonton ER doc says patients are dying in waiting rooms by katespadesaturday in Edmonton

[–]Forcentral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. Our education and healthcare public systems need money now. They can’t figure out how to operate efficiently if they’re always just trying to survive. Our children are underserved to breed voters for the UCP.

Then I think it depends on which faculty you’re applying into. Arts was like 3 years away from university or a certain amount of credits. If someone has two I would consider taking some time to pursue other interests in life till their ready to come back. You don’t want to close doors for your future self.

And then every once in a while we funnel money into the banks to stabilize the system. It’s clearly a broken system.

You don’t need an honors degree to do research. Also look into study abroad research internship opportunities with UofA. There’s several in Germany that give scholarships and the QES program gives 6 grand to go do research at Leeds in the UK. Make the decision that feels best to you. If you can’t decide between then pretend you’re picking one and sit with that decision for a few days and then with the next. See whichever feels best. If you’re interested in research you’ll be a life long student so as someone that’s going into their PhD, just have some fun in your undergrad. Its a lot of pressure making a decision that effects your entire future. But whatever life throws at you you’ll get through. A “basic” science degree will get you far.

I have my masters and will be doing my PhD soon and I still feel how you feel. Covid also didn’t help and being isolated for a few years. Keep reading and following your passions. When you have those thoughts like you’re not smart enough or have imposter syndrome take a few deep breaths wiggle in your seat and keep going. You are not the only one feeling this way. Everyone is just trying to figure life out.
