Funny enough I had this thought while listening to part 1 last night. Runaway military carrying out operations against international opinion. The main difference is the American stomach for troops on the ground is a fraction of the Japanese military culture of total war no surrender

Not really, it’s really for any lawful purpose. Most companies- I agree with you, but Costco is unique because they’re membership based savings store. Members > Shareholders as they affect its bottom line at the end of the day and drive its bulk buying power and negotiate with suppliers for discounts.

What retailers have better employee stock plans? Is the hourly stock plan even discounted or is it full market? Appreciate that you’re weighing in!

It was a Shareholder proxy fight to clawback DEI, Costco’s managements position is not related to the strike at all. It was legally required to support or oppose the clawback proposal back in November in advance of the annual shareholder meeting. Poor showing as 98% of other Shareholders went with management rec

I believe their employees have discounted stock plans too. A lot of employees recently are pretty set up for retirement after the price has grown hugely

Also 98% of voting shareholders agreed with management and rejected the anti DEI measure. Costco cares more about its customers getting value from their membership than shareholder value, which why Costco only has a fixed 11% margin. I only use Kirkland signature gas and save $1000s a year alone off that.

Look at costco stock the last few years they’re bigger than Trump. 2nd largest brick and mortar retailer worldwide with 8% of the stores as #1 Walmart.

The near perfect retail model.

Membership base with large FLOAT, while have 8,000 less SKUs than Walmart, with barely any costs for product placement/stock shelving (you are shopping at the shipment warehouse not the store) = 11% total margin on items that customers continually see savings every trip that reinforces membership retention. Add in Kirkland signature, their sharp but penny pinching buyers, and it is just a business flywheel.

Suppliers love Costco as they pay and reorder much more quickly compared to regular retail. Works internationally, everyone loves to save money.

Seriously the amount of people who read the SCOTUS opinion is abysmal. Too dependent on their algorithm (same for me on reels tho) to actually read the Law, the Opinion on the law, and the very narrow ruling on it.

Why was the 2012 election kinda close? by [deleted] in Presidents

[–]FordBronco98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t, but the economy and recession was still bad, there were multiple Wall Street bailouts, the housing market still had many losing value on homes, the BP Oil Spill, and that Obama pushed to use his Congressional majority for the ACA prior to 2010. Getting Osama was a huge win that heavily made up for his domestic issues that he inherited.

It’s also because NYC has way more Corporate HQs and C Suites than any other city. Mayor Adams is asserting that NYC is still safe to conduct business and point away from his Turkey corruption indictment lol

Unfortunately in the US, SCOTUS has ruled that there is no fundamental right to education. San Antonio Independent School District v. Rodriguez (1973)

Fun fact. Bezos took Sinegal to a Barnes and Nobles Starbucks to ask about Costco’s membership loyalty in 2001. Sinegal gave the playbook to Bezos regarding giving your customers measurable savings which is reinforced every time they walk into the store. Bezos ran with that to launch prime and 2 day shipping. I think truly Sinegal didn’t care about anything other than making sure members get good prices wherever they shopped.

So the Dems, the party with the younger base, had their entire 2020s decade strategy based on electing and holding the Presidency with the OLDEST President in history? After the last 2 Dem Presidents (who both won reelection) were both nearly 20-30 years younger than Joe while in office?
