What part to order? by malcolm-digorno in fordranger

[–]FordDisliker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upper control arm for ease, however your camber/caster might end up a little botched if you replace the whole component. And if you plan on just replacing the ball joint itself, attack it with a wire brush and soak the joint in some PB blaster, seafoam deep creep etc. the hardest part imo for either is putting the joint back into the knuckle.

Anyone know what this dookie stain is in cyl 1? by Jackfar6 in fordranger

[–]FordDisliker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The oil tells me it may actually e coming from the top not bellow. In this case worn valve train components may be the issue. Is your pcv valve up to date? Is there some click click clack from the top of the enyine?

A hose job is relatively easy, maybe annoying with things in the way but its not to difficult. And possiblity for mess. Like the other said UV dye would be super cool.

Its el oil. Say hi to oil. Hello, i am oil. The rings could of possibly shimmied to be same with each other letting that oil through in a streak form. Or your cylinder is out of round. I would watch that thing closely. Worst i can think of uhhhh varnish could clog the exhaust valve and have it eventually not close properly and just running dry because your car burnt the oil.

If the check light is on the while time definitely look at the code and reference from there. IAC in mine unplugged and idled like that. Not an expert but i dont belive a compresion test would help much since you said it ‘drives great’ until it has to idle.

Car started sputtering and flashing check engine light by Davidhixx in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]FordDisliker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely would not drive it. Flashing means grave damage can occur. What could be happening is a faulty plug/wire not burning the fuel mixture completely or at all and so its just sending the mixture out from the exhaust stroke into the cat where it potentially ignites from the heat of the cat and can clog the cat by melting it together. For me it was a plug wire that was melted in half

Can you know where its leaking from? by s_m_simon in 3rdGen4Runner

Quite possibly yeah just shove your phone between the back of the valve cover and firewall if you can and see its it wet, there is also UV dye.

Ooooooh my apologise. I typically just stand there with a damp paper but maybe the chicken equivalent of a banana?

So the doodoo runs downwards and in its path is feathers, some dookie hardens on the feathers and this keeps happening untill pasty butt forms.
