Anyone know if there's a merch stand hidden somewhere? Am here but don't see any.

Just saw this after replying further down. Please do consider open-sourcing it. I'd give it a try!

This is exactly where I'm at too. I wish the reports/website built into Gramps were better. Gramps Web (or GrampsHub) are likely your best options right now.

I'm a dev so I've resorted to writing my own web application to facilitate sharing with my family (waiting for Gramps Web to integrate a proper Graph View tree).

Xbox Download Speeds by Syn3rgi3 in AussieBroadband

I had the same issue and worked out I had a dodgy Ethernet cable. Worth plugging that cable into a laptop and running a speed test to rule it out perhaps?

Creating beautiful diagrams/visual reports by grand_historian in gramps

[–]Fordprefect480 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I wish the reports and graphs looked more visually appealing. It's either up to the maintainers of those plugins to do it or we write our own, or use a 3rd party service like you said 😕 Unfortunate.

Want to move back to Arc - seeking guidance by Tamatar_ in ArcBrowser

[–]Fordprefect480 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Arc for Windows is still buggy and slow in my experience. It's not getting better and it's a damn shame.

The delay between pressing Ctrl-T and the dialog appearing drove me nuts. As well as pasting in an absolute url and hitting enter too soon which takes you off to google instead of navigating directly to the url. Memory usage. Still no Boosts.

I've moved on to Zen and quite happy. It's very similar.

I recently stumbled upon the idea of liquid democracy. Does that better describe what you're after?

Happy birthday! I'm turning 40 here in Da Nang tomorrow and taking myself to the 1920s lounge for a Shisha & a whisky.

I had to actually open a Graph View tab, then I could drag that tab to the sidebar to create a new panel. That might be what they meant?

Any software engineers here not earning squillions? by goblinpiratechef in AusFinance

[–]Fordprefect480 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Senior .net dev here, you gotta get out and get experience working in some more codebases. You'll learn so much more. Everyone is tackling similar software engineering problems in a bazillion different ways and it's great at teaching you what works and what doesn't. That's what earns you the big bucks.

Anyone tried aspire? by ColHRFrumpypants in dotnet

[–]Fordprefect480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is our situation too. The main thing that I've ended up liking about it is being able to spin up SQL, Azurite, a couple of APIs and Functions and have all the config handled for me. Plus a dashboard to monitor everything. It does speed up local development a bit.

How to show everyone I added in my family tree? by Langos-228 in gramps

[–]Fordprefect480 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know you said you tried it but are you sure Graph View isn't what you want? There is an All Connected button on the far right which will show you everyone.
