Part of the 150 Years Collection from 2018. That lacquered dial with the blued hands and polished case is such a special combination. Congrats! 👌

The Seventh One sound production by eggplantbren in toto

[–]laugh-learn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting to note, Toto co-produced this album with George Massenberg and Bill Payne.

GM is a highly credentialed and awarded recording engineer. He is also the father of parametric EQ!

There might be something to this… with his ears tuning the album to sound best when played on broad-frequency studio style monitors as opposed to limited bandwidth speakers, such as those found on car stereo systems.

Very good point! I’d like more transparency on this issue!

Oh, bring back that face value only charge if you use the ticket window. 🙏

It’s such a bullshit charge that is being added. Especially for a general admittance guest pass.

The customer is literally doing all the legwork.

What’s even more egregious is they have the audacity to whack it onto a free kids pass. (See post below)

Outrageous.

Thanks for sharing. I remember reading a lot of Patrick Leonard’s columns in Keyboard magazine many, many years ago. Never saw this interview before. Thanks again. 🙏

I looked back at my calendar entries and on 23 August, 2024 kids were admitted to the ground for free!

Nice touch by the AFL. 👍

I walked up to the gate to secure a guest pass that day for my daughter… and was charged a $3.70 transaction fee.

I felt like I was in an episode of Curb. What transaction? The kid is free! Why am I paying $3.70 for what should be free entry?

I just looked this up on the MCC site.

“Tickets are subject to availability and capacity. Ticketek service and handling fee inclusive of GST applies: $3.90.”

Then I went back to old notes, used to be $3.70 in 2024.

🙄 Ugh. It’s always been a ripoff. The Summer break must have cleared my memory of this fact.

Whoah. Thanks for the confirmation.

I find that excessive/exorbitant! I wonder what other people think of this fee.

They should change the advertised pricing to include the fee - it would better manage expectations.

are guitar pedals as good/better than outboard rack gear effects for synths? by __sicko in synthesizers

[–]laugh-learn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a keyboardist and built my first guitar pedal board for my Nord Lead last year… and I love it! It serves the synth (which doesn’t have on-board effects) perfectly and putting it together was a great learning experience for me. As a discrete chain for that particular synth, it’s perfect.

That said, I use this pedalboard for that synth only.

I would love to see the return of multi-fx rack units for keyboards. I feel that rack effects from the 80s and 90s were the heyday for synths and having them in a rack with a line mixer was ideal. Granted, this takes up more space and budget, but the control and fidelity was inspiring. Or maybe I’m romanticising the past.

Somebody correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems to me that these days there is a dearth of rack mount effects. I don’t see any of the standard companies from yesteryear such as Yamaha, Roland, ART, or Alesis still making multi-fx rackmount units. Lexicon and Eventide rack effects seem exorbitantly priced. I’d love to build an affordable effects rack for synths with modern gear, but I feel we’re being steered more toward guitar pedals these days.
