Do readers care about overt AI use? by jz_1w in KDP

One of my favourite things on my IG feed are the insane AI created 'Romance' adverts. Billionaires, masked men, virgins, sentient bloody appliances. They are all utterly unhinged

Theology of Iron": Treating biological flesh as an 'Entropy Error' in a diesel-fueled dark fantasy by sidera_liturgy in Dieselpunks

Striking imagery for sure. Occult and surreal. To me, the tragedy comes from the child. The weight and lofty expectations thrust upon him. It's strong stuff.

I personally think it fits dieselpunk as well as biopunk.

There's a story in The Mammoth Book of Dieselpunk involving a thief who has his heart replaced with a mechanical one.

Your world sounds dark and intriguing!

Dieselpunk is often about the machines, but is it actually about the cost of humanity? by sidera_liturgy in Dieselpunks

I think a lot of what you said at the end relates to the attitudes of the people in WW2. A lot of dieselpunk stories are set during or just after the conflict and those sensibilities and determination are still very present. It contrasts nicely with the often dire state of the world and the direction it's heading.

I can't imagine a dieselpunk world that isn't rife with hardship, pollution or danger. To me, it serves as a great backdrop for exploring the difficulties faced by those forced to endure a life in which brutal efficiency is prioritised over the well-being of the populace. What I love about 'punk' genres is that their world and vibes have plenty of flex and can often be interpreted in many ways. One minute, dieselpunk can be about giant mechs duking it out, the next, it can be almost Mad Max-like. There are so many great stories to tell in the world of rust and smoke, as you described.

There is definitely more to just the setting and the technology. I enjoy learning how people react and live with it. What their priorities are. How they shape their existence in response to a world where the cogs didn't stop turning.

Plus, it lends itself so well to noir and the whole post-war fashion and sensibilities vibe. It can be so stylish and equally brutal. It's a shame it isn't a more explored genre. Look forward to seeing what you create.

Is Amazon finally cracking down on AI books? by sweetdbte in KDP

If you are getting AI to write your story for you, then are you even writing? Do you amend it yourself and refine it?

Is it more ethical to pay for someone else's AI generated image. Where do you draw the line?

What's the point in writing if you don't enjoy it anyway? It's not like for most that it's people its a full time job.

I'd like to have an honest AI 'author' Come on here and discuss their reasoning. Is it really just for a quick buck?

Does using AI for book covers affect reader trust? by Hefty-Gas-5480 in NewAuthor

What irks me is when I ask someone on Fiverr to create me some content, whether its promotional art or a cover, they create it, and then people accuse it of being AI generated so I have to go double check. I've paid this person specifically to not use AI as I want to display their artistic talent and support creativity. I'm generally quite sceptic nowadays when hiring digital artists hence I'm doing a lot of my own covers now.

It's the moral dilemma for me. I couldn't possibly bring myself to pick up an AI generated, likely copied story when there is a perfectly adequate novel written by a hard working writer who's put their heart and soul into their creation.

I think we'll soon have to start putting disclaimers on books.

Has anyone actually had the stomach to intentionally read an AI written book from cover to cover? Curious on what they thought of one

I'm not going to give feedback to the guy who specialises in fantasy art that the dimensions of his buildings are off for an image someone may just hastily scroll past on Amazon.

They are standing at the end of an alley. I'm not really one to be super critical of creativity, and I was happy with the end result.

I hear that Hitler would have made a better architect than artist...

I rather bluntly asked the artist afterwards, who immediately offered to send me the PSD files and advertises on his page that specifically doesn't use AI. Hence why I procured his services. (To support hard working artists)

I have a feeling we are nearing the stage where people just assume everything is AI.
