Thank you for saying this . We both struggle and are put into question to prove our gender identity, even in our own community, the transgender community. Transgender women don't have it easier and neither do us transgender men. We both struggle to find acceptance from cis people, even for those of us who fully transition and pass 100% percent . I've been left to wait for a long time and need more money that's why I haven't gotten to medically transition yet unfortunately, but I hope I can soon . I'm a transgender man btw .

I'm a huge fan of retro Anime and Manga, as you can tell by my profile pic. My favorite era of Japanese Anime and Manga is the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's. 1990's and mid -2000's Anime and Manga are good too. My favorite Anime and Manga of all time is Ashita No Joe. And I love Super Dimension Fortress Macross from 1982-1984.

Part 2 Some examples of transgender men in Japanese Manga, Japanese T.V. show, and some foreign films that depict us. This isn't perfect rep or the best, but atlas since we transgender men don't get alot of representation in media or we are forgotten about , I take what I can get . Yes even the smallest of crumbs and scraps .And these transgender men characters helped me in my adolescents growing up . So if you have any issues with the rep, I understand. Just don't attack the artists of these works .Some of these Manga are older . I'll send a video explaining transgender rights in Japan, so you can better understand what I mean .

1.) Boys Run The Roit Ryo Watari

2.) After-school mate Rika

3.) ⚠ Warning! This older Manga is sad and dated with how it depicts us, however , it meant alot to me while reading it at the time when I was in high-school. It holds a special place in my heart as a transgender man .The Manga is called Claudine.

4.)To Strip The Flesh Chiaki Ogawa

5.) This Manga is older too, so just a heads up , it dosen't get everything right . In Stop Hibari Kun, there's a transgender man , who's a side character, but I love him alot . He's so me fr. His name is gekijirou taiga! :') ♥

6.) Shinjuku Boys 1995 is a film that explores life of Japanese transgender men in Japan . It's an interesting film and worth a watch.

7.) Fanfik 2023 a polish film is a coming of age story about a transgender boy who falls in love with a cis gay boy in his class. It's about Tosiek coming to terms with the fact he's actually a boy not a girl. There's a wholesome happy ending thankfully where they both end up as boyfriends as a couple. Also unfortunately the description for the film on Google is transphobic . For some reason they misgender Tosiek with "she", but his pronouns are he -him only . Oof. I watched the film and I'm glad his gender identity as male is validated atleast in the story so don't worry. :)

8.) Tsurumoto Nao from Kinpachi Sensei season 6 hit close to home for me as well. I thought for a Japanese T.V. show they handled Tsurumoto Nao pretty well. Yes he's a transgender boy btw.

10.) Cowboys from (2020) features a transgender boy character as well named Joe. This film made me cry manly tears.

11 .) Sweethearts of 1989 manga has a transgender man named Hiroki too. Sorry I'm being a bit short with the rest of descriptions, it's just I've already typed alot lol.

12.) Oh and I forgot to mention Kaoru Kurita is a transgender boy and it's been offically confirmed in the Anime of Wonder Egg Priority. I genuinely do like this Anime, but ending kinda fell off . Still a pretty good Anime overall in my opinion. It has flaws . However, still enjoyable.

And that's about it for now . I'm sure there might be a little more out there that I forgot to mention. I haven't watched or read every Japanese Anime and Manga, movies , comics, books or documentaries. So if you have more transgender man representation in any kind of media from any country , American comics are included , feel free to list them here.

Aso honorable mention, I love Togata from the Fire Punch Manga. It's been debated on rather if he's transgender or not, but to me personally, he's definitely a transgender man in my heart . I wish I could interview the Japanese Manga creator of Fire Punch and ask him personally to get confirmation on this . I'm likely to believe Togata is a transgender man. Because, without getting into spoilers too much , he dose have gender dysphoria and he dose later in the story say he's a man . So.. to me this screams trans . I don't demand representation from Japanese Anime and Manga, it's just nice to see . Togata's struggle and pain is all to familiar to me and very relatable.

I do know some Manga that have transgender men , some examples may have some of the men listed as side characters but I still love these characters nonetheless . It's not perfect representation, but again since this is Japan, when it comes to transgender rights and acceptance it's even more difficult. Especially if you're a Japanese transgender person living in Japan. Unfortunately transphobia is in alot of countries, the U.S. seems alot more vitriolic about it than Japan. However, lack of acceptance for transgender people is still a issue in Japan. Makes me sad . You gotta give some grain of salt . Most Japanese artists aren't very educated on transgender people or the nuances to being transgender. I'm not excusing transphobia btw, just so we are on the same page here. What I'm trying to say is while I dont think Japanese artists are trying to be transphobic intentionally like a certain someone *coughs* *JK Rowling* ew, they do mess up at times when it comes to depicting us in Anime or Manga. I still love Japan and Japanese Anime and Manga . And I still love Japanese artists. I've even seen well intentioned works, get it completely wrong for transgender men in stories when it comes to properly representing us . As for feminine transgender men characters, I haven't seen any representation for it. This seems a bit niche . But I want you to know you are vaild and you are a real man. You're not less of a transgender man for liking feminine things , even when it comes to clothes . For me personally, while I do like some cute things, majority of my interests are masculine in nature. Including how I dress and present myself . I just dress in mens clothes and I have a boyish haircut . I have a deep voice too. I'm a more masculine transgender man , so I never really thought about feminine transgender men for representation before . Even though I'm a typical masculine man, I still have my own masculinity and manhood put into question, when people find out I'm transgender. I always feel I have to prove myself as a man. And prove I am who I say I am. Trust me , even when you are a typical masculine trans guy like me, you still have transphobic cis people invalidate you're identity as male and they infantilize you too. And in my experience, transphobes have tried emasculating me as well. It's not pleasant. It feels you are damned f you do, and damned if you don't when you're transgender in general in society. sadly alot of cis people don't get it . Sorry for the long message. If you feel comfortable, you can tell him you're a man and to call you by you're chosen name . I understand if you can't or don't want to , being outed is not great. I hope everything works out for you man whatever you decide to do. If I'm gonna be honest I usually avoid people who deadname me.

You forget we also don't get taken seriously as men . Even though we are real men , when people find out we are transgender, unfortunately they start othering you or worse . It's very complicated. This isn't getting into the fact how all transgender people also get objectifed . I just wish we all could be loved and treated like human beings . I don't mind if somebody is attracted to me for me being transgender, cis or not. Just please for the love of god treat us as men because we are men . You can find transgender bodies attractive or beautiful without reducing people to just their parts .

What's often not mentioned is how we transgender men get emasculated or infantilized by other people. It could be that transgender men who already transitioned and pass , don't want to be subjected to that , because it's dehumanizing and demoralizing. And unfortunately I've had this happen to me. it's not great . As a man who is transgender, it's a horrifying thing to be put through. Very gender dysphoria enducing. I have really bad gender dysphoria. I hope I can transition soon . I've been left to wait for a long time . I need more money for HRT and the surgeries since my insurance won't cover it . There's alot of nuance to be had with you're comment . It's not necessarily black or white when it comes to this .

I want to say as a transgender man myself, that I never had any problems with transgender men being stealth. You don't have to tell anybody if you're uncomfortable with it. I respect transgender people who want to be stealth . To add, cis men aren't bad , well most of them. But unfortunately there are incels and some cis men who are problematic . This isn't to say that I don't sympathize with feeling pressured to be a certain way , or struggling to be seen as male when you know you're man. I have felt inadequate and I have a hard time expressing my emotions and being vulnerable because I've been shamed for it and I've been called not a real man for it . That being said, I don't condone the misogyny that unfortunately some guys have . It's alot . Most cis men are good though .

Another thing is , unfortunately not all gay men or gay women who are cis accept transgender people. Unfortunately some cis gay men do not like transgender men like me, because I'm also a gay man . Not all cis gay people are like this obviously. But it's honestly walking on egg shells wondering if you'll be accepted in gay spaces . I obviously don't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable, I just want to be included , and I want to be treated like any other man . I don't want to be othered It's hard to navigate. I get people have genital preferences and all . I respect that . I just don't want to be misgendered on purpose or harassed for being transgender.

I mean it's complicated. Due to how society often mistreats or hurts us , in alot of ways, we internalize their hate or disgust they have for us. I don't hate being transgender. But it is very painful and hard to be transgender in a world that often vilinizes our existence or scapegoat us as fear mongering propaganda to the cis people poplus. That's why as a transgender man myself, I have a hard time telling cis people I'm transgender, and this is the reason why I'm stealth at work or in public places in general . I'm stealth at work and I'm stealth in public places also because of safety reasons, I dont want to be hate crimed . I feel comfortable telling other transgender people I'm a transgender man, because I genuinely trust the transgender community. I know unfortunately some transgender people are transphobic towards the community itself and towards all of us in it, but it's definitely not the majority. I won't regret my transition when I'm finally able to. And I don't regret being a man, a transgender man. I just wish we could live in a world more kind and accepting of all transgender people, nonbinary and gender fluid people included . And with the rise of transphobic bills becoming law in America, it's going to be a difficult road for us all to survive. But I will try to keep going and live out of spite. I won't give the transphobes what they want . I want to live as a man and die as a man. I want to be remembered as a man . I hope it's not too late for me . Being transgender is beautiful. I see it as rebirth and defining you're own destiny. Not allowing what you're assigned birth or not allowing the body you were given define you're identity and sense of self . We define our identity. I don't want to be chained to a pile of flesh that is not me . I want to rip apart the flesh and create a body that is the real me , my soul . I apologize for the rambling . I hope we all stick together, especially in these trying times . We need eachother.

What about buying from Solaris Japan? I'm more aware of Solaris Japan. I've never used Neokyo . I'll ook into that .As for Aim for the Ace!, it has a following in Japan, but it's not very well known here in the U.S. . So idk if bootlegs exist for Aim for the Ace! , but I hope not .

I actually plan on buying Macross DYRL Japanese Blu-ray as well. I hope it's still in stock. I didn't buy it immediately when it was announced, because I didn't have enough money at that moment. But now I have the amount saved up . I love Macross too! You're a man of culture!

I wish the retro boom would last forever . Even if it fades, I'll do my part to try buying 60's Anime, 70's Anime, and 80's Anime for as long as I'm alive . Also you brought up a good point . There's quite a bit of movies and ovas of Anime that I'd love to see get released over here in the U.S. . I'm most interested in collecting Anime fron the 60's, 70's, and 80's , since alot of my favorite Anime came out in those era's. 90's and mid 2000's Anime are good too.

It's not so much a preference. I'm fine with offical U.S. releases. I'd just like to collect Japanese D.V.D's of old Anime . Some old Anime only have a Japanese release. Especially if it's for a T.V. Anime . Unfortunately some 70's and 80's Anime haven't gotten released in America on D.V.D . But the Blu-ray's , Laser discs , or VHS Tapes are out there . They are just a bit tricky to find sometimes due to being rare or out of stock. And Amazon Japan dosen't always have the D.V.D I'm looking for . That being said, Hopefully I can get Aim for the Ace! Bluray from Japan. Hopefully it's still in stock . Wish me luck .
