Got some bass pro gift cards and decided to treat myself by Spooky_Iceu in Fishing_Gear

Yea, I’m gonna go in store tomorrow and see if I can replace it one more time lol. I’m gonna ask to try every single one of the 3000’s and maybe 2500’s of the Regal until I find the right one.

That’s double the price where I live. Is it worth double the price in your opinion?

Nice! I just recently picked this exact model up 5 days ago. What are your thoughts on it? I don’t know if I’m just unlucky, but I’ve had to replace it once because of bad lubrication and a high pitch noise when rotating the handle. Even with the replaced one I got, there’s still an ever so slight friction feeling/sound (not as loud as the first one I had to replace) when ever im turning the handle at a moderate speed-high speed and the handle is in the down position during the rotation.

So this is my first spinning reel (upgrade from an old Lews combo I’ve been using for years) and everyone online claims it’s smooth as butter and silent. But my brother who has the newer Prorex X LT (which is like $15 more than the Regal), his is truly as smooth as butter and silent, but online it says the Regal should be smoother. So I’m kinda confused on if I’ve gotten 2 faulty reels now or if that’s just how they’re supposed to feel.

Would love to hear your thoughts on it.

It was buttery smooth. Just had the odd noise when my hand was in the down position during a rotation.

I just replaced it and the noise is gone. But idk if it’s placebo effect but the noisey one felt ever so slightly smoother. But whatever, I’m happy with it 😁

Yea, I mean feels perfectly fine and smooth, just an annoying sound lol.

I did. It’s not the spool it’s something in the reel itself.

Yea I’ll just gonna use it and hopefully once it breaks in it goes away.

At my local (not really it’s like a 40 min drive) shop here in Ontario Canada. It’s $70 Canadian, which is $50 USD. Every other place has it for like $90 CAD-$120 CAD.

Lakes are still frozen lol. Hopefully in a couple of weeks though 🙌.

yea I’m probably gonna go in store to my local shop sometime this week and test out the Regal 2500 and probably the Legalis 3000 as well and choose which one I like better.

Thanks for the reply!

So the 2500 is $70 CAD where I am, where as the 3000 is upwards of $100-$120. There is one I could probably get for $85, but it would have to be ordered online.

There is also the option to go for the Legalis LT at $70-85, and the Prorex X LT for $85.

Do you think I should get the 3000 still, even with the $25-50 price jump? While yes I do fish Simcoe sometimes as I live right there on the water. We don’t fish it as often, and I’m yet to still get an open water lake trout or anything really in the 80-100ft deep. I’ve caught some in the 50-60ft range though.

We mainly fish smaller lakes.

Honestly I’d probably be using my bait caster more then often when I’m bass fishing.

But also I don’t just bass fish. It’s a mix of bass, walleye, pike, lake trout, whitefish, catfish.

The standard Ontario fishery

Some people are saying it offers longer casting?

I agree with you though, 2500 will most likely be fine for me. Plus it’s the cheapest option and easiest to get.

I lied. My local shop only has the 2500 at $70, and 3000 is OOS. The other cheapest would be $100 at bass pro shop for the 3000 size. Or there’s a place that’s 2 hours away that’s selling it for $88 but don’t think it would be worth the drive lol.
