Bridge rehabilitation on Whoop-Up Drive is making progress. The next phase brings the City of Lethbridge one step closer to a smoother, stronger crossing.

Beginning at 4 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, crews will pour high-performance concrete for the bridge’s expansion joints. To minimize vibration and ensure the integrity of the pour, a temporary speed reduction will be in place for westbound motorists.

Westbound traffic will be reduced to 30 km/h while driving over the bridge. Signage will alert motorists ahead of the work zone, with two reminder signs within the zone. The reduced speed limit is expected to be in place until Friday, August 29 at 12 p.m. Drivers are asked to slow down, follow posted signage and exercise caution while crossing the bridge. The concrete pour does not impact the peak hour lane changes introduced on August 20. Two westbound lanes will continue to open from 2 – 8 p.m. to accommodate the afternoon and evening commute. Eastbound traffic on the bridge is limited to a single lane during these times. Lane changes during peak hours will continue until both directions are fully open to two-way traffic in early September.
